Dr. Greger Gives @Hench Herbivore Diet a 9/10 Even Though It Doesn't Have Over 15 Nutrients

0:00 Yo guys, what's up? As requested, I'm going to review a video of Hench Erbivore presenting his full day of eating to Dr. Michael Greger.
[video] 0:09 Dr. Michael Greger, thank you so much for being with us today, taking the time. I know you're a busy man. Still happy to be here.
0:16 Let's do this. This collaboration just makes me smile. Two of the healthiest people on earth.
[video] 0:23 Thank you. A lot of what I do is kind of critiquing other people's food. And I thought my audience might get a bit of a kick out of someone else, like your good self-critique in mind. Are you up for that? Let's do this. We'll see what I ate yesterday. So I need to share screen.
0:40 Was it just? It's pretty hard to figure out how to share a screen. I get it.
[video] 0:46 Today a typical day, or were you like, oh, Gregor's going to be looking at my food tomorrow? No, I am a pretty good boy, to be honest. Well, I'll be honest with you, I'll be honest. A pretty good British boy, innit? Dr. Gregor, I'm not 100% whole foods plant-based, being a strength and physique athlete. I feel like the exercise scientists seem to say that we need maybe a little more protein than is easily available from whole plant foods without your calories going a bit over. So adding a couple of servings of a more processed protein food. But I like to go on the healthier end, not an impossible burger. But anyway, I'm hoping we'll get into that. And no doubt you'll turn me off a little bit and my audience will be thrilled. So can you see my screen there? Okay, I can. Let's check this out here. Actually, I was just going to show you the photos. Oh, that's nice to listen. You're going to make me hungry. Look at this. Look at that.
1:31 Wait, what? Why would that make you hungry? It just looks like seeds. Seeds are, if anything, bird food. Human beings don't look at seeds and create cravings for them. We don't even see them as food, naturally. It's just such nonsense already.
[video] 1:48 What have we got in there? So that disgusting thing at the bottom right, I call it my death drink. And Gemma says, no, let's call it a life drink. You know, I'm generally opposed to death drinks, but... It's more of a description of the...
2:04 Isn't everything that vegans drink death drinks, really?
[video] 2:07 So I've got my turmeric, my black pepper, black...
2:10 Turmeric, black pepper, all in the drink. I wonder why he does that, because of antioxidants, the ones that actually cause a lot of inflammation in the body because of how toxic they are. That's what turmeric, ginger, garlic, all of this garbage that vegans and a lot of people actually nowadays eat, does to the body. It's very toxic so the body has to fight it, which is why your body creates this inflammation. Uses actual antioxidants such as cholesterol to fire off the toxins and so on. It's a biochemical disaster to consume any of this.
[video] 2:44 Cumin, seed powder, ginger.
2:47 Seed powder, ginger, yeah, as I said. They believe that this is... even anti-inflammatory in some cases and that's because you have studies that show that when you consume these toxins then the body produces antibodies and tries to fight the inflammation caused by the toxins which is why they believe that these foods actually lower the inflammation in the body when in reality it's a response to the toxins which is why the inflammation goes up and then it tries to lower it
3:17 Oh my god.
[video] 3:18 It's all very useful around checking to keep you kind of pain-free. Right, so far so good, yeah.
3:23 Pain-free. It does cause inflammation in the whole body, which is why if you would have pain in your knees, for example, then you may not feel it as much anymore because you would have pain all over your body. Your whole body would be so inflamed that you would not notice the inflammation in the knee anymore as much. That's all that I can think of he means. I don't know what else he could possibly mean.
[video] 3:46 He's impressed by him using something that tastes disgusting because in their logic
4:03 Something that tastes disgusting is somehow healthy That's just the logic of a lot of people nowadays, but especially the logic of vegans When in reality something that tastes good is healthy and something that tastes bad is always unhealthy Absolutely zero exceptions to this our senses know exactly what is good for us but instead they listen to other people who will tell them what is good for them and
[video] 4:30 Jesus, man. Amla is in the porridge, because that's too much. And I hide the Amla in the porridge. Oh, okay. I mean, it sounds like it couldn't taste even worse. But yeah, Amla is pretty nasty. There. Oh, no.
4:44 All right. All jokes aside, I feel really sorry for Hen Scherbio. Really, I'm not in any way joking. He looks incredibly bad. Look how pale he is. He probably even tried to hide it with the lighting somehow, but... He looks as sick as you possibly could be. He was incredibly misled and disinformed by other people. That's how he fell into the trap of veganism. And now it seems like it's impossible for him to get out of it. He even takes the advice of Dr. Gregor. If anybody from outside of veganism would look at him, then they would say that he looks sick. But only the vegans actually take his advice. Don't take advice from somebody who looks sick. If you want to achieve something in your life, and everybody wants to achieve health, then don't take advice from somebody who hasn't achieved that. Whatever we are talking about. But in this case, it is health, and we are talking about nutrition.
[video] 5:43 Oh, what happened? No, I haven't. I lost it. You gotta bring it back up. Sorry. Let me share screen. I wanted to...
[video] 5:53 I told you this would be a bit of a farce. I wanted to lose... I see it.
5:57 I wanted to lose that and just... His brain doesn't even work anymore. Hasn't even been working in the last years.
[video] 6:03 Talk through the ingredients right now. Now, wait a second. Were those chocolate chips? What were those little black things? Right, so they were pure 100% chocolate. How do you stand on that? Because obviously that's not a whole food. And I know you say cocoa powder is better because you've had the saturates kind of taken out. But are they the really bad saturates? I've just got 10 grams. Yeah, no, it's mostly stearic acid. Yeah, it's mostly stearic acid. It really has kind of a neutral effect. So those are unsweetened? Yeah, but...
6:22 What are the bad saturated fats exactly? Your body, every cell of yours has saturated fat.
6:32 I wonder what he would mention.
[video] 6:33 In the sweet porridge, I've got dates in there, like chocolate. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't notice, yeah, but you can obviously, the polyphenols, the magnesium. Would you say that's a healthy addition? Yeah, it's basically just some extra empty calories. The cocoa butter.
6:50 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, all right, all right, sounds good. So, but would you swerve? Both of them seem to have a very healthy functioning brain.
[video] 6:59 We've got some soya milk, which obviously is processed. Okay, well, that's unsweetened. That's good. Yeah, unsweetened wine. Okay.
7:05 As long as it's unsweetened, it's good.
[video] 7:10 Why regular oats instead of steel cut or oat groats? Yeah, I don't know. Do you have an electric pressure cooker? Yeah, we do now. Instant pot? Oh, my God, you've got to go grow. Have you ever tried just straight oat groats? No. Oh, my God, you are going to love them. Not only are they way more healthier, you are not going to be able to go back. Right. They are amazing.
7:28 How are oats healthy in general? They just have fiber, sugar, some anti-nutrients, and that's it. Glyphosate nowadays also, for sure, because of the way they farm them. What are they talking about?
[video] 7:43 I mean, they're amazing. Yeah, so that first thing I would do, absolutely, right? So we want whole intact grains, not just whole grains, intact grains. And so, yeah, oat groats, which is, so oat groats.
7:54 Whole intact grains are so full of anti-nutrients that they are going to destroy your gut completely. Horrible advice.
[video] 8:01 Chewier is not good in the case of seeds because it means that the fiber and the anti-nutrients are still intact. It's something that you want to avoid.
[video] 8:22 It's just a prebiotic party for your microbiome that you're not getting as much.
8:28 It's not a prebiotic party whatsoever, especially because of the anti-nutrients and the toxins in all of these plant foods, especially in seeds. It's actually as if you're consuming small amounts of antibiotics. It will destroy your gut microbiome. It's going to disrupt it. It's a disaster. That's why whole grains cause gut pain.
[video] 8:53 Oh, well, okay. In terms of optimal protein muscle building. How old are you? I'll be 50 in a couple of weeks. Oh, okay. I mean, yeah, no, no, there is a small benefit in terms of muscle.
9:11 He will be 50 in a couple of weeks. He looks like he's 60 plus at the very least because of the condition of his skin. And Dr. Michael Greger looks like he's dead already.
[video] 9:23 Also, in terms of at least lean body mass. Yeah. How much protein do you eat? 200 grams. 200 grams a day? Yeah, because I'm about 200 pounds. That's ridiculous. Yeah, I thought you might say that. I mean, there's a whole point. I mean, the anti-aging literature focuses on protein restriction and bringing protein down to recommended levels.
9:41 That's funny, him talking about aging. But it's true. If you restrict protein or really any kind of food, calories in general, then you will age slower. The less you do, the less you need to eat. And the less you eat, the slower you age. That's why if you exercise, do any kind of workouts, then you will age quicker, seeing as you will need to eat a lot more food. The more damage you do to your body and the more you need to repair it, the quicker you age. That's just biochemistry 101.
[video] 10:12 Yeah, I don't think you're getting the benefit you're thinking you're getting. So for people over 65, there's zero benefit in terms of muscle performance, muscle strength, or muscle mass adding protein to one diet. Now, under age 65...
10:25 He should also mention that he's taking steroids, or at least he did for many years. Maybe he stopped now. after he was in the hospital.
[video] 10:33 The best source of iodine is seafood, as in fish and shellfish.
10:48 not some sea vegetables which are indigestible. No human in nature would ever eat so-called sea vegetables. They are disgusting and as I said, even if you would for some reason put them in your mouth, you wouldn't be able to digest them. That's why the vegans take these powdered supplements to try to get some kind of iodine out of them. But naturally, you would simply eat the actual meat and that's how you would get the iodine. So strange, such strange vegan recommendations.
[video] 11:18 Doing a lot of, you know, if you're not eating sushi and stuff like that, you know, a super easy way to do it is just sprinkle some dulse flakes on.
11:27 He probably means the sushi wrap, but of course in reality you would be getting the iodine from the actual fish. in sushi. Sushi is of course not so healthy because of the rice, but if you compare that to what most people eat nowadays, then sushi is pretty healthy because you're still eating raw fish. Of course the fish nowadays is farmed, but if you would be eating sashimi instead of sushi, simply the raw fish, especially if it's wild caught, then it's one of the healthiest things you could possibly eat.
[video] 11:52 I, yeah, see, again, I don't know if I can handle an oatmeal. I usually put it on something a little more savory. I mean, it's pretty mild flavor, but still. Oh, you don't notice it. You don't notice it. Really? All right. All right. Hey, good for you. Go for it. That's amazing. Cinnamon, love it. Turmeric, again. I don't want my oatmeal tasting like curry, but fantastic. Oh, no, so this is in that shot I showed you. Oh, I see this in the shot. Oh, nasty. Okay, sounds good. Okay.
12:18 Wait, wait, what? He said nasty but sounds good. Oh my god, these people are so incredibly contradictory. They realize that it tastes horrible, which means that it's horrible for you, but they believe that it's good for you, even though all of your senses say that it's actually bad for you. It can't get any worse than this because this is the definition of being brainwashed.
[video] 12:43 So I'll show you my next, that was my lunch. Oh, okay. I've got tuna chickpea mayo. Oh, okay. Yeah, so like a tuna kind of. Oh, I love those little microphones.
12:57 Yeah, tuna, because you crave actual tuna, you want meat, of course.
[video] 13:02 Oh, it looks delicious. Let me go back to the ingredients. Let's get that out of the way.
13:07 It looks very green, which suppresses our appetite. But then, of course, you have some other colors also in there full of carbs.
[video] 13:14 Okay, I'm moving it on. Okay, sweet potato, awesome. One of the healthiest vegetables.
13:22 Sweet potatoes are high in oxalates, though. You should never overconsume them.
[video] 13:25 Superfood, chickpeas, fantastic.
13:29 How can it be a superfood if sweet potatoes don't have over 15 micronutrients, which are only found in animal foods, really only in meat? It doesn't make any sense. How can a superfood... By this ridiculous vegan definition, not have over 15 micronutrients. It just doesn't make any sense. Why would a superfood be deficient in nutrients? It's so illogical.
[video] 13:57 Tomorrow, we don't like the sodium. Go for the low sodium. Oh, and something I've added in is the low salt with the potassium. The low sodium is compared to regular, but it is high. The low sodium is high sodium. I'll stick to my low salt then. So, yeah. Oh, yeah, the potassium salt. That's really the way to go. I'll do that. Fantastic. As long as your kidneys are doing okay. Fantastic. All right. So the silken tofu, was it just kind of chopped up in there?
14:18 Yeah, I'm sure that his kidneys are doing super good.
[video] 14:22 The saucer? So yeah, that makes the mayo type. Oh, got it. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you need something like that. Okay, sounds good. Cashew butter, that sounds good. Corn, onion, right? Red bread, probably healthiest, but all good. Mixed greens, fantastic. And tomatoes, is that like a canned tomato product? It really doesn't matter what he names. Everything in here doesn't have over 15 micronutrients. It's just irrelevant. All of it is unhealthy. So it's got a lot of veggies, some tri-colored quinoa. It's got a little white potato, which I know you're not such a huge fan of.
[video] 15:04 But now how do I get that? Now it's in the way and now I can't, how do I get rid of that? Oh, I can drag it. Get out.
15:13 Oh boy, man. There's just something really wrong with them. It's really messed up.
[video] 15:18 Oh, yeah, great. Oh, there we go. Okay. So meal three. So from the kale. Oh, love the kale.
15:23 It reminds me of some videos where he tried to live stream. It took him so long to understand how to do it.
[video] 15:27 Broccoli. Oh, my cruciferous. We got the mushrooms. Love it. Love it. Love it. I love it. I'm going down this thing. Yeah. So, I mean, I guess the only thing would be swapping white potatoes for sweet potatoes. And the highest level will be purple sweet potatoes. Yes. But, yeah, but any kind of sweet potatoes would be better. Get more carotenoids. But you are eating such a healthy diet. Like, I'm really not.
15:47 That's good. Why would you need such a healthy diet which doesn't have over 50 nutrients? Great. Why would you need purple potatoes for carotenoids? Why would you need more of them? Human beings can convert carotenoids into vitamin A. If that's what he was implying, maybe he's saying that they have some kind of anti... oxidant effect, which is also nonsense, but it's a whole different topic. It's been proven in tons of studies that human beings can convert carotenoids into vitamin A, which is why if you believe that you're going to get vitamin A out of carrots, then you're mistaken.
[video] 16:19 How would you score me out of 10 for health, Dr. Greger? Oh, well, so, you know, it would be the percentage of calories that you are eating that are composed of whole plant foods. So if you had 90% of your calories from whole plant foods, you'd get a 9. 80%, you get an 8. I see what you're doing there. But if you're eating 200 grams of the powder, how much of the powder were you getting? Maybe 50 grams in a day. So 50 grams, so that's 200 calories, right? So that's 10%, so you get a 9. 9 out of 10. Fantastic.
16:50 Great. So if you eat 100% whole foods, plant-based, so to speak, then you get a 10 out of 10. But that kind of diet still doesn't have over 50 micronutrients.
17:04 What a joke.
[video] 17:06 Pretty pleased, isn't it? Sure, mate. Lovely.
[video] 17:18 Oh, but it looks fantastic. Thank you. I want to, you know, I'm coming to the UK. Oh, for VegFest. Well, both in January and in July. So you have to invite me over for one of those beautiful meals. You'd be very welcome. You'd be very, very welcome. Now, the idea that plant-based protein is next to useless is based off of decades-old faulty PD-Cas and DS. Oh, right, right, right. Animal studies.
17:43 I only now notice how weird his beard is growing. This one said, is there just no hair growing there, or what's going on?
[video] 17:51 Modern studies in actual humans show there's no difference in the ability of vegans and non-vegans to grow muscle and build strength when the protein is, like, matched. But my understanding is, like, it's not quite as bioavailable. Is it the plant protein? Is it the animal? I think there's not much in it. Do we have any hard data on what the actual... Oh, yeah. Well, no. So bioavailability of whole... Plant foods is lower because your body has to kind of, so we have the same bioavailability if you're talking about protein powders. So you're talking like pea protein, soy protein, whatever, versus, you know, whey protein or whatever. We have the same bioavailability. But you get about a 10% drop when you're actually eating peas or actually eating soybeans. You're actually not getting about 10% of that protein.
18:22 The biological value of whole plants such as beans or peas is actually very low. I would really recommend for people who believe in plant protein to look into the biological value. If you compare that to meat or eggs, then you will see that Animal foods are basically completely digestible, which is why you can easily get the protein out of it, seeing as that's what we are naturally supposed to eat. And when it comes to plants, the biological value is actually very low in comparison, which means that, no, it doesn't just drop by 10 points, 10%.
[video] 18:54 Just because, you know, you're pooping it out of the other end. Yeah. So would that be the same for peas versus meat? Is meat protein more bioavailable than pea protein? It is. It is. It's not surrounded by fiber, right? Because there's no fiber. Fiber is indigestible.
19:11 Oh, okay. Dr. Greger actually said something that's correct. Wow.
[video] 19:16 And so, you know, all the cell walls in plant foods is made of fiber, which is indigestible. So, I mean, no matter how well you chew, you're going to have intact cells going all the way through your body and hiding all that, you know, stuff. Now, the fiber can be eaten by good bacteria. Hmm.
19:32 Yes, the bacteria could theoretically use some of the fiber as so-called food in your colon, but our colon is very small compared to other animals, which are supposed to actually eat plants, such as gorillas. They have a huge colon where they ferment the fiber. That's how they get... saturated animal fat out of it. We cannot do that the same way cows do it with grass, which means that we are not herbivorous animals, obviously. I think that's needless to say. I don't think that any vegan even believes that. But I still believe that we should be eating whole plant foods, even though our bodies are not actually made to digest any kind of plants and most certainly not the fiber, which is indigestible, as Dr. Greger also admitted. Our bacteria can also not do anything much with it.
[video] 20:18 Well, not 100%. which is like good for people who are overweight, right? And so like, you know, you eat a handful of nuts and it says it has this many calories. It actually has like 80% of that calories because these little nut particles just, you flush them down the toilet.
20:34 Oh, I'm really starting to like Gregor. Not really, but he's talking about stuff that I actually talk about in my videos, that fiber is indigestible, that you can't actually get the calories that you see on the package out of the plant foods. I wouldn't say that you can get 80% out of nuts, more like... 60, 70 at best, but again, look into the biological value.
[video] 20:59 I mean, you don't actually get them. So it's actually good for people who are extra heavy, but for people trying to maximize absorption, then, you know, the nut and seed butters, you actually get all that nutrition, you know, blending smoothies and sauces and things like that. Then, then, then, you know, you're, you're ramping up that bio bill, buddy. Yeah. Awesome. Thank you so much, Dr. I believe you've got your new book. How not to age is coming out on the 5th of next month. I cannot wait. Yeah. Just a lesson a week.
21:23 wow excited wow really how not to die was one of the best books i've ever read i don't even know how you could possibly beat it i'm going to link my short about it in case you haven't seen it it's tuesday where can people get their copies
[video] 21:39 They should be able to get it everywhere. I think it's coming out in the UK, same time it's coming out in the US. I just want people to live longer, healthier lives. You lovely, lovely man. Dr. Greger, thank you so much for taking the time and thank you so much for everything you do to make this world a better place. Oh, you too. Keep up the good work. I will do. Thank you, Dr. Greger. Bye.
22:01 Oh, that was so sad at the end. Oh my God, man. I really mean it.
22:10 I really meant what I said before also. I feel really sorry for him. Did you see that? Thank you, Dr. Greger. It's as if he sees him as some kind of a god, almost. Most definitely a role model. And he actually believes that Dr. Greger is trying to save lives. He really doesn't understand that because of the vegan diet and because of the steroids, of course, also he ended up in a hospital, almost died. And he just blindly follows it still. It's just amazing what brainwashing can do to a human being. I actually read a great comment about vegans on my videos once. It went something like this. If you experience health benefits, then it's always the vegan diet. If you experience any health issues, then it's never the vegan diet. Think about this deeply, especially if you're a vegan. Thanks for watching.
