Is There Evil? Reviewing the Aubrey Marcus & Dr. John Demartini Debate @Aubrey Marcus

0:00 I am going to be reviewing a video called No Such Thing as Evil? Shocking Debate. Before I start the video, I want to make it clear that obviously there is no such thing as evil, seeing as it doesn't exist. Evil is a human-made concept used to classify actions that humans see as bad. Usually humans will apply to actions that may harm them or their family members, but it's not something that is actually found in this reality.

[video] 0:36 I have a really hard time with this, honestly, because if I went home today and somebody was assaulting my wife, I'm just driving home, had a nice podcast, we worked out some differences in our opinion and our, you know, our ontology of morality and value, et cetera, and had a good time and someone was in there assaulting my wife. I would forcibly stop it. Probably.

1:02 Right, and you would do that because you would actually sense what's going on in this reality. Your loved one would be in danger and that's why you would physically in this reality try to stop the attacker. It has nothing to do with abstract ideas such as morals.

[video] 1:27 100% certainly. I wouldn't say, maybe this is his belief and this is my belief. You're going to react in that setting exactly proportioned to your morality at the time. If you see what he's doing is evil, you're going to do what you can to stop him. But it is evil. In your perception it will be. So you don't believe that there is actual evil?

1:44 Right. And in his perception, in the attacker's perception, it will not be evil. That's why he's doing it. He wouldn't do it if he would see it as bad.

[video] 1:56 I believe there's actually evil. I think what we have is that we've personified that and give names to it and call it good or evil or God or devil and things like that. But these are anthropomorphism.

2:08 Exactly. He understands that these terms come from religions. Remove the all from good and you have God. Remove the D from the devil and you have evil.

[video] 2:22 The reality is that there's an event there. I'm not negating that the person is doing something that challenges you. He may be taking your wife's life or trying to. If you value your wife, you'll try to save her life. That's perfectly understandable. And that would be good in your perspective. If you valued him and somebody was supporting him and he thought that she had done something that challenged him, they may see it completely different. I'm not one to take a side on that. I'm the one to say...

2:46 Exactly. It's all about the perspective. I can give you a simple example. Imagine that there is a wolf pack and one day another wolf pack attacks them for whatever reason. Maybe they simply sense that they are weaker and naturally stronger animals will attack weaker animals. If the wolves could speak a language the way we do, and if they would be brainwashed, if they would believe in morals because of religions, then they may see them as bad or evil because the other wolf pack is attacking them. They are trying to harm them. But in reality, the other wolf pack is simply trying to dominate. And that's how it always will be in this reality.

3:38 The wolves would simply try to give the action some kind of label, but the wolf pack that is attacking them wouldn't see it as bad, evil, any of that. They would actually see it as good. That's why they would do it.

[video] 3:57 I'm going to look at what I'm going to do in that moment. And in that moment, I might find out that I would be favorable on your wife's side for sure. Probably so. And I would probably do what I can to stop. But then you're going to be in situational ethics again. You're now going to go, okay, I may have saved her life, but I've just killed somebody. So I'm now taking too, I'm doing a situational moral system there. If I murdered a person out of self-defense, that's considered good in some countries. In other places, you've now got to, you've just killed somebody. Over here, you just saved somebody's life. You're a hero and a villain at the same moment. So you have to decide which one is your belief. If you have a belief that that one's good by saving her and this one's bad by killing him.

4:33 Exactly. It all depends on how you have been programmed, what kind of society you grew up in, what kind of laws you follow in your mind. It's all based on ideas. It's not based on what is actually going on in this reality, because no matter how you want to perceive it, in the sexual reality, some people simply attack other people. They have their own reasons for it. And we can see that even in the media, sometimes it will be called good and sometimes evil. It just depends on who does it. If politicians are responsible for mass , then it will all of a sudden be good. It just depends. If somebody else does it, it's evil.

5:31 But in reality, the same thing happens if we ignore all of the ideas. if we simply focus on what we sense.

[video] 5:40 I've worked with thousands of people who think they've had terrible events, helped them see the other side of it, actually go to the people and be grateful for those individuals, open their heart and have that tear of gratitude for what's happened in their life and use it to do something amazing with their life. But what happens when that ends up in a fatality? Someone murders a child. Like, they don't have the opportunity to be great. I've gotten to work with that. You haven't gotten to work with the murdered child? I have. Not the murdered child, but the family that's left over. Well, that's what I'm talking about. Like, the murdered child doesn't have a chance to be grateful for being murdered. I don't know what's going on in the psychology of the murdered child. I just, because I didn't get to work with a murdered child. But I do know I get to work with the family, and I get to watch for the dynamics in the family and how it shifts, and watch the upsides to that event. Because to say it's just an evil event and there's no benefits to it is very narrowed. The reality is that there's upsides to that event. I worked with a lady after the big event. There's upsides to the murder of children? Yes, there's upsides to it. I think we're going to have to stop here, John. Well, you're too black and white, I guess, for me.

6:40 Too black and white, exactly. When you believe in good and evil, you do see life in black and white, so to speak. And in reality, it's not like that whatsoever. That means that your mind has been programmed. I don't know what the guy means by that. Benefits to... A child being murdered? Your own? I have no idea what he's going to say. I don't understand how there could be any benefits, obviously, but I would never stop the debate. I would listen to somebody. I'm completely open-minded when it comes to any topics. It doesn't matter if I agree or disagree with them. I will listen and discuss any topics.

[video] 7:30 You'd be able to share? I mean, look, I... Can I share my story? You can cut it off. I don't care. I'm not here attached to it. I'm just going to tell you that I went to the thing with the Timothy McVeigh thing that was blowing up in there. And I met with a family that had the little girl, the little blonde girl that was killed in the bombing. Do you remember that? Okay. I met with the family. I talked to the whole family. She said, and this is her quote, one of the greatest things that ever happened in my life is that bombing. That's what she said. This is the mother who lost the child. And there's a picture of the restaurant with a girl there, with a blonde girl there. She now has two children, one that looks almost identical. She has a new relationship with a new man. Her business is booming. Her life is unfolded. She's now contributing. The daughter is contributing in a way from the story.

8:14 Maybe he misunderstood her. There's no way that a mother would say that She may say that her life is still good, maybe even better now, that's possible. But no mother would ever say that it was a beneficial event.

[video] 8:36 And she looked at it and she says, if that hadn't happened, I would not be where I am today. Right, you can see it that way.

8:46 It's a sort of way of coping, you could say.

[video] 8:51 With an alcoholic husband that was beating me and my daughter, my life was on skid row almost, and that event changed my life and it blessed me with a new husband, new children, new things like that. So I just go, okay, she has this perspective that this has been a great turning point in her life. We don't want to rob people of that. We don't want to rob people.

9:11 Okay, that makes sense. It was a turning point. But there's no way that she would ever say that she's glad that her child died, obviously. You will never hear that from a mother or a father.

[video] 9:26 There's actually a field of value. And sometimes if you make one value absolute, like thou shalt not kill, I don't agree with that. I believe that there is a time to kill and there's a time to not. The largest killer in history is the Old Testament God. 24,970,000 deaths in the first and the Old Testament. Yeah. And Father Sean O'Leary in his book, Setting God Free, puts God on trial for crimes against humanity. That, and then ultimately comes to conclusion that that was a projection of our own idea. So I'm not trying to... All these are projections of human limitations. That's where we have a fundamental disagreement. I believe that there is fundamental value and there is fundamental right and wrong. You have two different views. You've got the relativist and absolutist. The absolutist really narrows their mind and says, that's good and that's bad and that's it. Don't bug me. Don't try to change my opinion. The relativist says, but what about this situation? And what about this situation? No, there's a middle path, though. The middle path is the relativist. No, it's not. No, it's not. It's that there is, situation does play a part.

[video] 10:24 Aristotle's golden mean and the golden virtue was the middle path, the Buddhist middle path. Equanimity was the middle path of Christianity. That is the middle path. It's the synthesis of opposites, and the synthesis of opposites, life and death, build and destroy. Your body right now has mitosis and apoptosis. It has oxidation and reduction. that has dehydrogenase, hydrogenase, it has pairs of opposites, it has agonist and antagonist. And you're living and dying at this moment, every single day you're living and dying. Part of you is dying.

10:52 It's too bad to see that he also follows religious beliefs, different kind of religious beliefs, unrelated to morals, but you also have to blindly absorb all of this information to believe it because none of it can be proven.

[video] 11:11 Right this minute, you're killing yourself with pre-programmed genetic codes to make sure you die and your cells are dying.

11:18 Pre-programmed genetic codes. Ah, whatever. Still, he understands the moral part.

[video] 11:27 When a mother bears a child, she has two sides, one that's publicly acceptable and the other one that's not. One, she goes, oh my God, my baby's born. I'm so excited. I'm so happy. I got my baby thing. There's another part going, oh my God, what am I getting myself into? What's going to happen to my physical body? What's going to happen to my career? What's going to happen?

11:41 He's mixing up the natural excitement with man-made modern problems that women in nature would never worry about, such as their physical body. The body only becomes more attractive when you are pregnant and you don't have a career in nature. Careers don't exist. It's nothing that you would ever worry about.

[video] 12:10 Is this guy going to leave me?

12:11 There is... Is this guy going to leave me also? Not an issue, not something that you would think about.

[video] 12:18 Torture and ecstasy in that moment. And the same when somebody dies. Grandma died. Oh, I'm so sorry. Finally, because she'd been tortured and she's dragging out and she's taken and she's burdening herself and burdening others. Other people, some are relieved. She's finally going. There's both sides to it. And if we take one side and label one that life is good and death is bad, that's very narrow, very narrow, very unaware that your body has got built.

12:39 If there's any sides, then he's talking about what you naturally want and feel. And as I said, the man-made problems that people are facing nowadays, which you would never even think of in nature because... Nobody would try to bother you with any of that. But this is all imaginary. That's why you can't really call them sides. The same way when it comes to morals, good and bad, you cannot talk about sides because it's all abstract ideas. not actual physical real sides.

[video] 13:24 There's a choice. We have agency. Yes. I agree that there's a full... Your choice, do you know where they come from? They come from the experiences that you've accumulated throughout pre-gestational... I don't agree with that. So I don't agree that everything is determined. I agree that actually... No, it's not determined. I believe that we have agency and then we have a choice. And we have a choice whether to express our darker inclinations... We do. ...or a choice to express our more loving inclinations. But guess what's going to trigger the buttons that we're going to respond to because you're assuming that you can override your impulses and instincts...

13:50 When you call your impulses what you want to do dark or loving, then you can know that you have been brainwashed.

[video] 14:00 Yeah, and you can override your impulses. I've wanted to hit somebody and not done it. You've repressed it inside yourself and then attacked your customers right here in front of me.

14:10 Exactly. When you repress what you naturally want to do, which is what he's talking about, then you will let it out somewhere else in another way. But eventually it will come out. You can try to repress something for years. A lot of people do that, and then they explode, so to speak.

[video] 14:32 I'm attacking you? Well, you're basically taking information that goes against what you say, and you're saying, I'm just gonna refuse to put it on my show because of it. That's what you just said right here. Can you face that? Because it's like a fight to you. It doesn't match your belief system, so you're ready to fight.

14:45 Exactly. That's how it is. When you are programmed, then hearing different kind of beliefs, opinions will trigger you and you will feel attacked. You can notice this very well. If you're open-minded, then you can discuss any topic. If a million people would tell me that raw meat is unhealthy, I just wouldn't care. Okay, then you think that it's unhealthy. We can talk about it. If you don't want to, then we don't talk about it. I will still live my life the way I do. But if somebody... believes in Christianity, and then somebody says that it's actually a religion which was created to enslave you, they will get really triggered. They will get mad and start attacking you. How dare you say that, no, the Bible is the book of God. Look at these man-made symbols. As a child, my parents told me that it's all real.

15:44 I must believe in all of that. I must follow that for the rest of my life or I will go to hell. And what it's really all about is fear. That's why you repress your intuition impulses. Over 90% of the time, it's because of fear.

[video] 16:02 You're ready to fight and say, I'm going to avoid that. You're the one that's far more emotional than I am. And you're the one who's accusing me of attacking you, which I'm not. I'm just putting forward my idea. Your hands are shaking. I'm calm. When you say that you're going to not go any further on a podcast because of what I'm saying...

16:19 His hands were shaking, but his hands were shaking since the beginning of the video. I don't even think that it's related.

[video] 16:27 That means it challenges you and you're wanting to avoid it. No, because it's putting out information that I think is detrimental to the world. I know, and you have a prerogative to do that. You're free to do it. It's your podcast. You can throw this tape right out. But the reality is... You can lie to yourself about that you don't have both sides, and you can try to repress it. I never said I didn't have both sides, John. You're putting words in my mouth multiple different times, because that supports your argument. Your agency is not completely under your control. No human being has complete control over their agency.

16:53 That's the part that I don't agree with, the sides. There are no sides. The sides are purely imaginary.

17:04 There's no evil, good side, call it whatever you want. You simply made up some sounds, which you then apply meaning to, and then you imagine that somebody is good or evil, or that they have a good or evil side. You can choose God or the devil. It's all religious, it's all nonsense.

[video] 17:29 See, that's the fantasy that people have. They're going to react. You know how I know? Because you've already stated, if I saw this, that's a terrible thing. You already reacted by labeling it terrible. Yes, if I saw somebody beating a child to a pulp, I would react. Yes. Yeah, I would. And would you walk away? I know a gentleman right now who's in Australia, in Brisbane, Australia, who was beaten as a child, and right now he's one of the biggest educators in Australia. But does that not mean I shouldn't stop what was happening? You are going to. If you have a perception that it's evil, you're going to try to protect the child. But I'm saying... But should I not? You're saying that there's no ought. I'm not putting moral shoulds on there. That's some authority that you've given power to that's outside you. I'm looking at that situation.

18:07 That's outside you. That's very important to understand. It's simply an idea which was... created by somebody else. Not that you can actually create it. Somebody simply thought of it, and then you absorb this information, most likely through some religious book, or maybe nowadays through the media. It's all the same anyway. And now that's what you believe in, but none of it is real.

[video] 18:36 That's why you have a balance of peace and war in the Global Peace Index. People think they're going to go out and create world peace. It's a complete delusion and fantasy. Peace and war has been...

18:47 I made a video on Telegram called There Will Never Be World Peace or something like that.

[video] 18:53 the balance and the state balance and every year they documented 99.7 percent of the population the world is being monitored by 23 parameters in every country showing that these things maintain balance if you look at the borders of european borders for the last uh 1 000 years there hasn't been one year that hasn't had war going on in that in those countries so peace and war is i don't i don't think that's accurate actually i think if we look this up i think if we look this up right now peace index look it up okay historically You don't need to look up anything.

19:27 Maybe it will help people like him, but if you would understand human nature, instead of thinking about some kind of sides which you imagine, then you would realize that humans will always want to dominate. There will always be fights, wars.

[video] 19:45 We have banking wars, economic wars, relationship wars. There's conflicts. Then the Global Peace Index is talking about banking wars? It's talking about all forms of conflict and peace that go on in the world, and it fluctuates based on different areas.

19:59 Right. People nowadays have financial wars, which are all imaginary, obviously. and all kinds of nonsense like that, because many of these people are not allowed to do what they really want to do or what they would be doing in nature, which is why they kind of try to imitate these wars, the battles, the fights. That's all that's going on. Again, if you understand human nature, then you would right away see through all of that.

[video] 20:35 Military wars go up and down. There's cycles to them. There are military wars that go up and down. No, they've been historically declining over thousands of years. Pull up European borders 1,000 years. All right, I don't even know what question that is. It's got an image of the European borders, and they're fluctuating year by year by year. And there's not one year that doesn't have a conflict and a war and a new where the borders of Poland and Russia and all these things are all constantly, constantly moving. Every time there's a movement, there's a war.

20:58 Right, because it's not as if people simply live and drink their coffee, eat their bread, go to work, maybe make some children. Nowadays, people in Europe don't even do that. And then go to bed.

21:17 People want to actually live and living naturally means doing stuff which I probably shouldn't even talk about. But the point is simply that you can only imagine that there will be world peace or peace on this earth. It's all imaginary because when you understand human nature, then you right away understand that It's all a fantasy. You're just living in a dream world, in your own imagination, because human nature will never allow it.

[video] 21:56 You're expressing it. You're just not aware of it because you're blinded by your morality. What do you mean you're not expressing it? If there's a violent impulse and you don't act in violence, then... So you have a violent impulse, you don't act in violence, you're repressing that feeling. Where does that go in your body now? Well, it goes out in an ecstatic dance or a breathwork, in a roar.

22:12 In an ecstatic dance. Sure, man. Or that I howl at the moon.

[video] 22:17 And where does that energy go? It's still energy. To the cosmos.

22:19 Great. So you just get... To the cosmos. Some imaginary place in your mind...

[video] 22:27 Giving it to the cosmos, your repressed energy. Sure. So what I'm saying is... So is that a good thing or a bad thing? Yes, it is, because it's a good thing, because what I'm saying is that we can affect things locally. We can affect things in ourselves. We can affect things in our family. We can affect things in our country. We can even affect things on Earth. Max Romeo, a great reggae singer, said, I'm going to put on an iron shirt and kick Satan out of Earth. Now, did he say, I'm going to eliminate Satan? No, that's just like, you may not believe in Satan. But let's just say... Well, that's a personification of things that challenge you. Okay, okay. Let's just say that... Let's just say that...

22:53 This is typically what somebody will say when they are disconnected from nature.

23:00 A simple example of this is you slaughtering an animal. The animal will suffer, the animal will feel a lot of pain in nature, animals eat other animals alive, but the animal that eats the other animal will feel really good. Oftentimes euphoric, if you eat really good liver, you get to drink the blood, meaning that for you, the action is really good. Not that you would put a label on it naturally, but for the animal that was eaten, your action was really evil or bad. This guy doesn't understand the nature of this reality.

[video] 23:46 That represents the darker side of the pole, right? That there's this, you're saying there's opposites, so you're saying that there's two poles.

23:54 What I'm saying is that we can... And that's the mistake also from him. There's only human nature. There's no way to label it. And these sides which they are talking about are all imaginary, right?

[video] 24:12 You're assuming that Jesus is on the light side, Satan's on the other side. That's your assumption. That's your assumption. But there are some people that don't believe that. That's just your assumption. Let's take the people out of it. And you're also personified. Is there a good pole? No. There's just two different poles. No, inside the light is the yin and yang. The Taoists understood the yin and yang. Rumi is the same as the jihadist. Rumi is, in his own way, is a jihadist in the sense of promoting his ideal. Yes. because they're trying to do what they think is God. So if you were going to have somebody over for Christmas or Hanukkah, and you could invite... I've had both. I've met with jihadists. I've met with them. It's very interesting. I learn a lot from how they believe. I'm curious, why did they come to that belief? How did they do it? I actually confronted some and asked, where in the Quran does it say this and say that? They couldn't even find it. It was an interpretation. And I was going, why do people make those interpretations? It's interesting. They justify it with a book.

[video] 25:09 They've got other people like Fadhala, who I had a beautiful conversation with as an Islamic leader in Cape Town, South Africa. Here's two people taking the same book, having two complete opposite perspectives. Are they right or wrong? They're just two different perspectives of a text.

25:22 Right, and some kind of text should never influence your life or even define it, which is the case with people who are really deeply into religions. That's all imaginary. How can you read a text and interpret it differently than somebody else? How can you live your life differently just because you imagine that some kind of symbols are telling you to live your life in a certain way? Why not live your life the way you want to? Why not follow your nature? Well, because you're afraid to do that. And why people are afraid to do that is clear. The guy on the other side is very afraid. And you can see it in his eyes.

[video] 26:18 That's it, two interpretations of a text. And the text was written by somebody. Who's to say that that's sacred? You want to make that up? You want to make it sacred because somebody told you it was sacred? Could be. Maybe. But we study the philology and the exegesis of that text. We find out that that text is written over many centuries. It's not written by an individual like they claim. That's got textual things that prove that. So if we go through there, we go, is that sacred? Is that a human syncretic development of philosophy through great thinkers?

26:43 The word evil is essentially being used as a weapon nowadays. It's a great way to control people because if you want to do something and you see it as evil, then you won't do it out of fear. If you want to hunt down an animal and eat it in its raw state, then you won't do it because you're afraid of imaginary rules, what people may say about you, and so on. It's all based on fear. If you analyze everything that you don't do, then you will realize that you don't do it because of fear. But factually, in this reality, you know that you would feel good if you would actually consume natural food. None of it needs to be based on any ideas You don't need to imagine any of it, you will simply know that when you do it in this reality.

27:41 Or you can choose to imagine that not killing the animal is good, that you will have good karma, that you will go to heaven, and so on. But that's all imaginary. That's not what is actually going on in this reality. In this reality, you would feel good if you would do it. You would feel healthy and happy. That's what I mean by good. But you can also imagine that you did something good, but that's just an idea. In this reality, you won't feel good because you will feel sick and unhealthy if you don't eat natural food. And that's why the question is, do you want to imagine that you're doing something good for yourself or do you actually want to do what's good for you? Thanks for watching.
