0:00 Hi, I'm going to be reviewing a video by MadDoesFitness. It's called I turned my new house into a 500,000 quid luxury recovery sensor in it.

[video] 0:16 I've turned my new house into the ultimate recovery sensor.

[video] 0:22 Starting with my bed.

[video] 0:28 But this is no ordinary bed. It's an eight-sleep mattress which contains the temperature of both sides of the bed independently. And that's really cool for me and Serge because she always gets cold at night, I get hot at night, so it can make her half of the bed warm and my half of the bed cold. Particularly useful in the summer. Also has loads of cool metrics that it tracks, like your deep sleep, your...

0:48 It's typical when girls don't eat enough animal fat.

[video] 0:52 Yes, when you are exhausted, stressed, then you need to sleep longer than people who are not as stressed as you and that's what

1:21 the recovery is all about. The question is, why do you stress yourself in the first place? As you can see, this guy has dark eye circles, under eye bags. Why do you need this recovery? Why not live a life without needing this recovery?

[video] 1:42 Rank it A tier. And this is just one of 10 recovery protocols that I'm gonna be ranking in today's video. One of which is literally proven to add years to your life. So make sure you stick around for that. But next up...

1:54 Why does he say that? Seeing as his channel is all about reducing your lifespan. It's all about stressing yourself. It makes no sense. If you want to do content about fitness, then simply tell people the truth. That they will have short lifespans. That you're trading your life for... muscles, which you need to maintain constantly, which is why you need this recovery time.

[video] 2:30 Are these compression boots from Current Body?

[video] 2:36 Right, these are a sick tool. I use these like once or twice a week. They're particularly good after leg day, obviously. You can see now, like the, can you see that? Like the Michelin Man Leg. They basically just compress. It feels like, imagine a massive person with huge hands just pressing your leg and slowly moving their hands up your leg, not in a menacing way. It's like super nice, therapeutic feeling. The way it actually works, physiologically speaking, is that the compression essentially forces your blood vessels to constrict And then when they release, they dilate. So you get that pumping effect through the body, which, and I'm reading this off the website now, helps flush away metabolic waste, reduce inflammation and reduce the byproducts of inflammation. So obviously that is really, really useful when it comes to recovery. It also pushes the deoxygenated blood back to your heart and then helps to send oxygenated blood to your muscles. Again, very useful for recovery.

3:18 Even if this is true, the question again is, why do you need this? Why do you get something like this in the first place? Because a normal human being doesn't think about that.

[video] 3:33 Even evidence suggests they can increase sleep quality if you use them for bed. You'll see a lot of bodybuilders use them, like, in the evening. I definitely feel very chilled after using them. The only thing is, as with the Eight Sleep, they're not cheap. Like, a pair of these will set you back about £700. So, for that reason, I'm going to rank them B tier. Anyway, on to our next recovery protocol.

3:56 Actually, it does look kind of scary. I've said this before. They live in the UK, there's no sunlight, but that's not good for you. That will age your skin.

[video] 4:09 Sorry, I literally cannot. Is that not the most disturbing thing? Like, imagine waking up at night and that's just next to you. It's absolutely... It's absolutely horrifying. Anyway, that is the red light mask, again from CurrentBody. Cez, thoughts? None of that can be proven. You can just believe that and then use the mask. But in reality, all that you want is sunlight.

4:47 But as I said, they live in the UK and even if there was sunlight, then they would probably be afraid of it. which is typical nowadays in most places on Earth.

[video] 5:00 The red light targets an enzyme which helps make ATP.

5:03 Targets an enzyme which helps you to make ATP. Prove that this enzyme exists and then prove that ATP exists. Oh, it's bloody not possible, innit? All right, let's just move on.

[video] 5:20 And that can essentially expedite healing. The only thing I'll say in this case is that...

5:23 Religious belief, great.

[video] 5:26 Good stuff. That's only on your face, right? So it's only going to heal your face unless you've trained your face. I've seen you can get like whole red light, I mean, in hindsight, you should have got a whole panel, right? You can get a whole panel that obviously covers your entire body. I would say because of the fact that it's only on your face, also, by the way, I looked it up, that costs 400 pounds to buy. You can get them for cheaper, but that specific mask is 400 pounds. You can't wear it though. You wear it every day. You're scraping the belt here. It says it's a red light mask. Red light mask salesman, mate. I'm telling you, 400 pounds for me is hard to justify. So for that reason, I'm going to rank it C tier. It's my ranking, man, you can't, it's C tier. It's my ranking, it's a C tier. La, la, la, la, la, la, la, C tier, C tier. Now we're gonna move down to the end of the garden, and things are gonna get serious. Seriously cold, because our next recovery protocol is the ice bath.

6:08 I already reviewed a video of him going in there with his kids, a short video, and he says that it's a horrible idea, yet he believes that it will help him with his recovery. How could it possibly, do you actually believe that something that you hate doing, something that is intuitively bad is good for you in any way, let alone for your recovery? How can you be this gullible?

[video] 6:40 It's literally, it's zero degrees, but because of the wind, it says it feels like minus four and it's raining. This is perfect conditions for an ice bath. Oh my God, I'm so scared.

[video] 6:52 Why am I doing this? Why am I doing this?

6:58 By the way, this iceberg... As you can see, he works out a lot and he's paying with his health and lifespan. Is it worth it for you? Do it if you want to, but you need to look at the reality of what's going on. People who go to the gym, especially when you go three to five times a week, all that you're doing is adapting your body to the stress as much as you can, which you can't really, but you're trying to maintain this unnatural mass. And once you stop, even for a few weeks, a lot of it will be gone because your body doesn't want this mess. It's horrible for your health, lifespan, for your survival in general. There's no benefits to it. You will have under-eye bags, dark eye circles.

7:55 everything will be worse in reality, but you will do it just to look bigger, wider. And if somebody is insecure about their body, it's understandable why, but do you want to do this for the rest of your life? Just keep showing your insecurity to everybody, keep aging yourself, becoming sicker, having injuries, pain, needing to recover all the time. Just because you go and lift metal up and down like a loser in a gym, at some point you have to snap out of it. And by the way, most people do.

[video] 8:37 In their 40s or 50s they stop anyway It stops the blood flow, meaning that you're basically dying If you fall into cold water, then in nature

9:00 It's pretty much a guaranteed death because you cannot warm up your body anymore. Nothing functions anymore. Basically, that's what he's saying. But that's somehow a benefit in his brainwashed, delusional mind.

[video] 9:16 Studies that suggest something, some correlations. Let's try to link it to this without any actual scientific evidence.

9:36 No empirical evidence.

[video] 9:39 If you were to do it, say, every single day. So for me, it's more, say, two or three times of the week kind of thing. But I would also say, for me, the biggest benefit is the psychological benefit. Ultimately, right now, this is a horrible, horrible, really, really hard experience. I don't want to do it. Because I'm forcing myself to do it, I'm becoming more resilient. If you can do an ice bath a few times a week, you can do anything, mate. Do you know what I mean?

10:00 It's about... Yes, but then you can do anything... that you don't want to do, so to speak. You understand what I mean? You will be forcing yourself to do something that you hate, that is bad for you. Because everything that feels bad is unhealthy, no exceptions.

[video] 10:22 What the fuck? It's just a fucking tub with water. Absolute scam, they scammed him.

10:44 This should cost like 50 quid might? Bloody fucking hell Is that a luxury item?

[video] 10:50 What is this? It's just wood? Okay and some thing attached to it Okay

11:10 Then I understand that it's a bit more pricey, but 4,000, that's still a scam.

[video] 11:17 Pretty sick. And it only costs one pound a day to run. But because of the cost, I can't go S tier. I'm going to rank it A tier.

11:29 And now it will take him even longer to recover because he damaged his body even more More inflammation was created in response to the stress Meaning that if you work out and you do this on top of that You will sleep two extra hours, possibly, depending on how long you do it, how often, how cold the water is, because it's just more stress.

[video] 11:57 Bizarrely, I now feel warm. You immediately feel warm when you come out, which is, again, that vasoconstriction, vasodilation thing.

[video] 12:05 Okay, all of that stuff is great, but if you haven't got your nutrition on point, you're gonna find it really hard to recover, which is why I have the Huel fridge. That's right, an entire fridge dedicated to Huel. And the products I'm stocking at the moment, the black edition ready to drink, I literally have one of these every morning. The black edition powder, this one's handy as you still get the high protein content, but for less money. And then finally Huel Light, which is absolutely ideal if you're trying to cut calories. It has 20 grams of protein, only 190 calories. Now it's important to remember that Huel isn't just a protein shake, it's essentially a small meal. And when you compare it to the kind of crappy meals you tend to eat when you're busy, not only is it a million times healthier- It's not a meal and it's for sure not healthy.

12:33 Protein powders were created by people who had leftover waste products and they didn't want to throw them out, which is why instead they created powders out of them. They called them protein powders. They paid some fitness influencers to promote them. People fell for them and now it's a huge business. But in reality, you're just consuming a waste product powder with some flavorings because you're not supposed to taste how horrible they are for you.

[video] 13:13 and more protein and nutrient dense, but it's also way cheaper. Like a meal from a supermarket is upwards of a fiver, whereas one serving of the Black Edition powder starts at £1.79, and it's 400 calories, 40 grams of protein, and 26 vitamins and minerals.

13:26 So if you want to give you all the vitamins and minerals in it, but in reality, it's synthetic, toxic, laboratory-made chemicals.

[video] 13:37 Go use the link in the video description and the code Matt, and you'll save £10 on your first order. Anyway, our next protocol

[video] 13:48 Swimming can be pretty chill As long as the water is not poisonous as it is in some swimming pools nowadays, the public ones It's alright, it's nothing special

[video] 14:18 injury because it's not weight-bearing swimming is a really good option now i appreciate this is not a normal pool it's obviously it's obviously quite lavish like the pool building in total was nearly 500k but you could obviously do an outdoor pool without a building for way cheaper so with all of that in mind i'm gonna rank the pool a tier and sticking with the pool theme our next recovery protocol is the swim jet

[video] 14:41 But again, it's counterintuitive. Your intuition tells you that it's doing harm.

15:10 You're brainwashed, you read something online and now you force yourself to go against your intuition. But in reality, this will again create even more inflammation because it creates more damage. And again, it means that you will recover. for a longer time. Most of what he showed will increase your recovery time. What actually decreases it is doing nothing, just relaxing.

[video] 15:44 Moving on to the penultimate item on the list, my prized possession, and in my opinion, the most effective recovery tool in existence, the sauna.

15:55 again it doesn't make any sense this will simply create more inflammation obviously that's what saunas do seeing as you're exposed to extreme heat usually

[video] 16:08 This might as well be my front room because I spend so much time in it. Like, I'm in it most evenings. I bring the boys in all the time. Sears comes in all the time. It's just such a sick tool. Like, firstly, for recovery, on an acute basis, it's very similar to lots of the other protocols. You get that increased blood flow, that basal dilation, which means it helps flush away the toxins and the waste products.

16:25 But those are just beliefs. You cannot prove any of this. The reality is that your body is stressed, it becomes red, inflamed, and you can feel that. But instead he chooses to live in his imagination like most people, instead of confronting the reality of what he is experiencing. recovery methods are doing. As I said, most of them are not actually helping you with your recovery.

[video] 16:55 You get increased oxygenated blood to all of your muscles and there are longer term benefits. So stuff like it reduces your resting heart rate, you get reduction in blood pressure, you get increased circulation. There are pretty substantial studies done, particularly in Scandinavia, that have shown regular sauna use can reduce your risk of heart disease by up to 50%.

17:14 The thing is that those are correlation studies. They would, for example, say that your cholesterol or who knows what will be lower. They will try to somehow link it to that. This is not science. It's not even relevant. You shouldn't be mentioning these kind of unscientific papers.

[video] 17:36 That's pretty mad. In layman's terms, using a sauna regularly, i.e. most days, will essentially make you live longer. So for me, it is an absolute...

17:44 Yes, yes, yes, exactly. But the people who do sauna competitions have heart attacks. I wonder why. Is it possible that it's actually not good for you? No, it can't be because... The study, the unscientific garbage study, which is essentially the same as a text from the Bible, said that it's not so.

[video] 18:14 staple of my recovery protocol. The Sauna is from a company called Steam and Sauna Innovations. It costs just under £9,000, but it is a custom build because we had like a bit of a weird shape room that we had to house the Sauna in. But given how much I use it, given all of the benefits, I had no choice but to rank the Sauna SCR.

18:33 But what are the benefits? You just named some beliefs that you have about it. How about talking about your body, what you actually experience? But he didn't. And they never do. Did he say that he experiences any benefits? from the ice baths. No, he said that he read something and they told him that it's good for you. But he doesn't experience any of it himself. He's just gullible.

[video] 19:08 We've done it. We've finally gone S tier. But the question is, can it be beaten by our final

[video] 19:19 The sea. I'm fortunate enough to live right next to the beach. The sea is literally on my doorstep. I've already told you all the benefits of cold water.

19:25 It looks so great. The British sea is just lovely, isn't it? It's like paradise.

[video] 19:32 Plus, it's literally free. So like the video. I'm going to get hypothermia. See you later.

[video] 19:40 Wait, the ranking.

19:42 You can go maybe once or twice a year into the British Sea in the middle of July, and even then the water is cold.

[video] 19:53 Matt! What's the ranking? We need to know the ranking, Matt! Oh, for f***'s sake. Matt! Matt! Where is he?

20:08 Here's the two biggest problems with this video. Why do you research all of these topics in the first place? Why do you buy all of these tools? It's because you're a fitness influencer. You exercise, you go to the gym, and this is why you're constantly exhausted, inflamed, stressed. You experience chronic stress in your life. And that's why you think about their recovery all the time, because what you really want to do is recover from all of that. But once you feel as if you somewhat recovered, you go to the gym again and you repeat this. How long will you repeat this? Until you have completely dark eye circles, actually black, until the eye bags are really thick,

21:06 What are you actually aiming for? There are no benefits to it, none at all. There's no benefits to fitness, going to the gym. Fitness simply means adapting your body to struggle. That's actually the origin of the word fit. People don't understand that today. It's actually the opposite of health. A fit body is the opposite of a healthy body. And the second problem is that he doesn't even talk about what he feels during these recovery methods, which he practices. He talks about what some papers told him would happen when he goes into the sauna, takes an ice bath, and so on.

22:05 This means that instead of living intuitively, he relies on the opinions of other people. And that's exactly why he works out in the first place. Would you work out? Would you actually believe that it's good for you if you would be living intuitively? That's impossible because your intuition tells you to never do it, to never even start. meaning that you have to live counter-intuitively in the first place to do it. And then to do all of these so-called recovery methods, you also have to live counter-intuitively because when you do them, you actually know that none of them are helping you. And in reality, they are making the problems even worse. Thanks for watching.
