0:00 Hi guys, I'm going to review the video of Simnet Nutrition where he makes pulled pork out of banana peels. It sounds like a sane and healthy idea.

[video] 0:11 Hey, what's up everybody? Welcome back to my kitchen for another video. I'm Derek, I'm a nutritionist and today it's going to be awesome because I am cooking with banana peels. Yes, that's right. Banana peels, not the banana, but the peel. So this actually came as a recommendation from many of you in the comment section of my videos and also in my DMs on Instagram. So many of you said, Derek, you eat so many bananas. Have you ever tried cooking with the peel? And it turns out it is actually a thing. I've seen people do many different things with the peel. First of all, I've seen...

0:36 It's only a thing in the mentally ill vegan community, just so you understand.

[video] 0:40 Flour made with banana peel, but I've also seen people like pickle it, but the most popular thing that seems to be a little bit trendy right now is to make a mock pulled pork sandwich, or like a vegan version of a pulled pork sandwich.

0:54 Wow. Besides the mental aspect, banana peels have so many pesticides usually, and of course the natural anti-nutrients, and essentially it's just indigestible fiber. It's really gonna cause a lot of gut issues.

[video] 1:10 So it turns out, I was doing a little research, and it turns out that the peel of the banana is actually 40% of the weight of the whole fruit. And I didn't really believe it, but once I peeled them and I actually felt the weight of the banana itself, it did feel like

1:23 You do understand that the peel, the skin, isn't actually a fruit, right?

[video] 1:29 Pretty light. It's also quite nutritious as well. We're actually throwing away quite a bit of good food.

1:35 How is it nutritious?

[video] 1:36 When we dispose of the peel. What? I don't know if it tastes good, but it's definitely nutritious and it's totally edible. The only sort of warning...

1:46 Stop saying nutritious and actually name some nutrients.

[video] 1:48 I also read in many different blog posts, not in this one I don't think, but in many other ones that there's B12 in the banana peel. Because I was trying to find like what nutrients are in here and it seems like it's many of the same nutrients that are in banana itself, like in the pulp. However, they did find that the antioxidant content was higher in...

2:04 It seems like vegans try to imagine that there's B12 in everything, even though it's in no plant foods at all.

[video] 2:10 The banana peel. But the claims of there being B12 in it are definitely unfounded. I would not rely on banana peels as a source of B12. If it did have B12 though, the banana would be the perfect vegan food. Well, especially if these pulled pork sandwiches turn out. So yeah, let's get making them. Now that the banana peels have been all cleaned, they are pretty much ready to shred. So here is the technique that I've seen used to do this. You just take a fork and you just kind of go down it like this. And it's supposed to just shred it.

2:43 Just the absolute mental illness of trying to do this. All of these steps just to create something that you actually want to eat, which is pulled pork or any kind of pork or essentially any kind of meat.

[video] 2:55 Let's see how this works. Shredding up my cutting board too, apparently. That was kind of time consuming. I'm not going to lie. It took about 10 minutes to do all that, but I'm going to press on. So what do we have to do next here? So now the recipe calls for...

3:14 Okay, so you can either make toxic fiber banana peel pork or you can just buy some pork and eat it raw and waste no time. Preparing it whatsoever. Yeah, whatever you want.

[video] 3:28 For the seasoning. So you want to get all the shredded banana peel into a bowl like this. So the recipe calls for like a tablespoon and a half of olive oil. And you guys know I don't like using that much oil, so I'm just gonna use a half a tablespoon in here. A teaspoon of smoked paprika. Three quarters of a teaspoon of chili spice. Three quarters of a teaspoon of garlic powder. Three quarters of a teaspoon of onion powder. A quarter of a teaspoon of cumin. And now you just want to mix this up really well.

3:51 You should also understand that all of the spices that he used are toxic by every definition.

[video] 3:57 It looks really disgusting to me. I almost want to kind of gag just because I understand how fibrous it is.

4:16 and how indigestible it is because of that.

[video] 4:18 It's starting to become a little bit more appetizing to me. It wasn't even looking like food there for a minute, but it's starting to smell good. And now the recipe says you just want to let this sit for about 10 minutes or so just to kind of marinate and absorb those flavors.

[video] 4:36 So the recipe did say that you do want to do a little bit of a water saute. This is going to help to steam it a little bit, cook it down. So you definitely want to add a few.

4:45 It really makes me gag when I look at it. It's really bad.

[video] 4:50 Use splashes of water while you're cooking. So apparently it takes about five to ten minutes to cook. Not very long at all.

[video] 5:01 So it's been cooking for about seven minutes now, and now you're gonna want to add the barbecue sauce. This is definitely gonna be where a lot of the magic happens. They're vegan-friendly, whole wheat. They actually call them peasant buns, which is so fun.

5:15 They're not human-friendly, though. Anyway, this video... defines everything that veganism is about, creating fake food. Everything is fake. Everything is to imitate animal foods, always.

[video] 5:28 It's a taste test, yay. Okay, so let's try it out. Look how good it looks. Let me give you guys a closeup first. Like, definitely looks pretty good. And the coleslaw is like pretty bomb, just on its own, so. I'm a little nervous. No, because anytime I've tasted banana peel, it's bitter. It's so bitter, right?

[video] 6:03 The buns, they were good. Yeah, the buns. And the coleslaw is amazing. Yeah, it's all good together.

6:17 What does it matter how it tastes like, man? You're eating buns, right? Just a bunch of grains, which is just sugar and anti-nutrients. And you're eating coleslaw, which is basically just indigestible fiber. And then you're eating banana peels. How does it matter what it tastes like when it's so incredibly unhealthy? It's not food by any definition. You're destroying your body. It just really doesn't matter. But again, this is what veganism is about nowadays. It's all about... Taste or how it looks like even because it looks like it's meat.

[video] 6:50 It looks like a real burger, which is what you want No, I like the flavor, but I'm just trying to get past the fact of it being I like it

[video] 7:16 But then my head's like, but this is banana peel. It's weird. I'm just trying to accept it for the flavors that it is. Yeah, I can see how people would enjoy eating this. Yeah. Yes, I think I like it. If I had the choice, I would probably choose jackfruit over it, I think.

7:35 Well, now, if you had the choice, if you actually had some kind of freedom of choice, if you weren't in this cult, then you would, of course, choose poor, because that's literally what you want, right? There's no arguing that.

[video] 7:49 I do prefer jackfruit when making something like this. But, you know, considering this is like a waste product from like bananas that we like throw out all the time...

8:00 Yeah, man. And you're eating it and you're giving it to your girlfriend. What the fuck?

[video] 8:04 It's pretty incredible. I have to admit.

[video] 8:11 So thank you so much for watching the video. I hope you guys enjoyed it. If you did, hit the like button. It helps me out so much. It's easy for you. It means a lot to me.

8:22 Oh, man. Okay, sure.

8:26 Yeah, plants don't have over 50 nutrients already, and this thing which he made really had probably no micronutrients at all. I could easily argue that, yeah. I can't think of any, because even if there was some vitamin C, then that was destroyed with the heat. All that he ate was dead fiber covered up with spices. Why did he do that? Because he craves meat. And then all of that stuff later on also of course has to come out. And I wouldn't be surprised if you get stomach cramps or something close to that by eating all of this stuff. It's just incredibly unhealthy. That's the bottom line here. There's no point in doing it. Except for the taste, which is supposed to imitate animal foods, yet vegans are against eating animal foods. Go figure. Thanks for watching.
