0:00 hey guys as requested i'm going to review the video called is strongman healthy by mitchell hooper as the world's strongest man and as a health care he wants some kind of a strongman competition that's why he calls himself the world's strongest man professional i think strongman might be the healthiest sport to ever exist no sport is healthy that already doesn't make any sense you could say that one sport is less bad as another sport that's about it
[video] 0:30 Before you go make a comment, please hear me out. Watch this to the end and then let me know your thoughts. Now, first of all, let's talk about health and what health actually is.
0:37 I went and looked up the World Health Organization definition of- Never look up anything on the World Health Organization. Come on. I think that people should understand that by now.
[video] 0:45 Health, which is, quote, a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities. Now, in 2009, research publishing in the Lancet defined health as the ability of a body to adapt to new threats and infirmity.
0:59 The most basic definition of health is a body which is not ill or injured in any way. That's it.
[video] 1:10 Now for me, what does health mean and what does health span mean? Health to me means that you're able to do everything in your life that you would otherwise want to do.
1:17 That's also pretty much on point, although when it comes to women, they rely on men for a lot, which means that going through life unassisted wouldn't even make any sense for them. And even in some cases, a man needs help seeing as in nature when we hunt, for example, we work together. But I understand his basic point, and that's correct. unassisted i.e you don't need help standing from a chair you're not impeded going to the grocery store if there's snow on the ground it's slippery outside you're not in any sort of major concern to me that's the it's not exactly hard to go to the grocery store all that you need to do is walk and most of the strongmen and bodybuilders injure themselves to the point where they can't walk anymore once they reach the ages of 50, 60, but it would be very hard for a non-natural body like his to properly move and to hunt in nature, which is way more important.
2:12 A body like his, which is a disabled body, would never be able to survive in nature, not even for a few days. That says everything. That's way more important than somebody who can't go to the grocery store, not being able to naturally survive. He's severely disabled, this guy. And by the way, I said this already in the last video, but he's 28 years old. Just let it sink in.
[video] 2:37 Epitome of health. And for me and the clients in the clinic that I work for, that is always our objective. Now, what really do we need to do?
2:46 Your objective is to make people look like they are walking tumors because that's how you look like. We need to do six things.
[video] 2:54 One, we need to be able to push.
2:57 Did he just say that we need to do that in everyday life or what does he mean exactly? Because nobody pushes themselves up in nature. Everybody knows that. Is he lying on purpose or is this a joke or what is going on here? And pushing in general is also almost never needed. Very rarely. I'm talking about once or twice a year. When would you ever push something in nature? Almost never. Nowadays, if your job requires it, that's about it. We need to pull. Pull what? In nature? You would sometimes drag, as in pull, an animal carcass. Again, that would happen once or twice a month. And most importantly, you don't need to train for it. Our bodies are naturally made for it.
3:45 carry over carry what again um your children which you can naturally do even children can carry other children because we are naturally made to do it again no training required whatsoever carry an animal again no training required whatsoever there's no need to train to do any of this to push pull or carry it's just such a stupid video already head press squat Overhead press, never in a million years would you need that. Squat, 100% never in your whole lifetime.
4:28 Yes, you should be able to do it pain-free. And the way you're going to be able to do it is to never work out or in any way train for it. Just how humans in nature do it. If you do what he does, you will 100% injure yourself. 100%. Your joints will be destroyed.
[video] 4:47 That is also a strongman competition. Now, of course, there's two major elements of health.
4:53 You just looked incredibly unhealthy in the clip. Your face looked like a tomato.
[video] 4:58 First is physical health. And that side, to me, is covered off in that explanation. The second side is mental health. And for me...
5:06 How is it covered? A human body has to be alive to be healthy. A corpse is not healthy. And any kind of stress reduces your lifespan. I can post studies in the description if you want about this. And exercise is an extreme kind of stress, which means that it reduces your lifespan significantly. Everybody who studies biochemistry knows this. this is why if you in any way promote any kind of exercise strongman competitions being a bodybuilder then you're promoting a shorter lifespan which means that you will die quicker and death is the unhealthiest state a human body can be in which means that this video is absolutely ridiculous because what you're promoting essentially is death hey lifting and being in the gym has always been the number one positive influence on my mental health
[video] 5:59 a form of meditation where if you can intently focus on something it's an addiction that's it it's the worst kind of mental state you can be in that is by definition meditation and often removes a lot of outside noise uh the fog in your head any buzz going on in your head weightlifting and strongman can help remove that i remember back in the days when i was running and i was fit and i was able to do a lot and probably fit the traditional definition of what a fit person looked like but
6:23 when I was running I was still right now you look like a 50 year old severely obese guy in every way not healthy nobody on Earth would look at you especially if they hear that you're 28 years old and say that you look healthy everybody and I mean every single human being on Earth would say that you look very very sick and that's all that matters how you look like your looks define your health
[video] 6:47 thinking. My brain was always spinning, always going different places, sometimes productive and frankly, sometimes not productive.
6:55 It's because you're very insecure. You know that you're very bad looking. That's needless to say. And that's why you focus on strongman competitions. You have failed at life because of your genetics. And now you focus on this. It's your addiction. It's your escape from reality.
[video] 7:15 Emotional health or mental health is defined as emotional, social, and psychological wellbeing. Generally speaking, you feel happy, you feel comfortable in your skin, you have a sense of fulfillment, purpose, pride, and joy.
7:24 Yes, and it's impossible for you to feel healthy in your skin because you have trouble walking. You cannot move properly. Basically, you cannot do anything that a natural human being can do. If you would jump up and down 10 times, which anybody with a natural body can do easily, then you could actually risk seriously injuring your knees, for example. That's how unhealthy you are.
[video] 7:49 Let's go over to the FTS website to see what do other people in our space have to say. Now, Tyrell Detweiler emphasizes that pursuing peak athletic performance often entails sacrificing overall health. And this is where we have to draw a distinction. Strongman as an activity and strongman as a sport are not the same thing. It's unfortunate, but the reality is in any elite sport, we have negative health consequences. There was a study done Yes, that's exactly right because all sports are unhealthy public health of Sweden and they found the following results associated with high-level athletic performance one increased morbidity including cardiovascular disease observed in older athletes Yes, of course if you use any kinds of steroids then for sure anyway, but the stress alone is going to cause cardiovascular disease they found association of cardiovascular disease risk factors and Similar to those in the general population, competitive sports aimed at optimizing performance are more likely to induce negative effects due to high training loads and impacts. And lastly, sporting adults experience a higher quality of life, but also face an elevated risk of injury, which can then lead to psychological disorders such as depression.
[video] 8:49 This is where we have to dissociate being a professional strongman and doing what it takes to win the World's Strongest Man. Everything involved.
8:54 Look at how full of joy this guy is for those few seconds for carrying some kind of wood around. And then he's holding up this man-made trophy with no meaning whatsoever, showing it to the other slaves. Look at me, guys. I lifted wood and now I have this man-made trophy which you made for me. Wow, he has a trophy, which has no meaning whatsoever. He's a loser slave who destroyed his health to get attention from other people because he's insecure because of some trauma from his childhood. A traumatic loser is holding up a man-made trophy.
[video] 9:30 When it comes to diet, supplementation, exercise, body weights, general movement, lifestyle...
9:38 Wow, he looks incredibly obese.
[video] 9:41 We have to put that aside and we have to get back to what is the actual root of strongman and strength sports in the beginning. And the root is creating a robust, resilient body that's able to withstand extreme loads and extreme situations. In the end, if you want someone to help you move, do you want a marathon runner or do you want a strongman?
9:56 yes exactly and those are the best kind of slaves the ones who sacrifice their health and actually died decades before they are supposed to just to lift man-made metal for no reason to show off their trophies to other slaves or to work in a moving company where you move furniture to different apartments and houses those are the best slaves because they sacrifice everything for nothing The medals mean nothing. The trophies mean nothing. Money doesn't exist. It's nothing whatsoever. It's just all for nothing. You just have to be completely brainwashed and dumb to actually fall for it.
[video] 10:34 What's really interesting, though, is that resistance training and lifting heavy in general, according to the research, has actually been shown to have similar positive effects on your cardiovascular health, on your reduced risk of diabetes, on your reduced risk of insulin resistance, reducing the risk of fatty liver disease. Many, many, many health conditions, as the research comes out, seems to be impacted equally by resistance training and by aerobic training. Now, this is...
10:54 Where is it? Where is this proof for that?
[video] 10:56 ...brings about a fascinating statistics by John Hopkins Medicine, which is out in the US. Now, about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports, and more than three and a half million injuries each year, which cause some lost time in participation, and they're experienced by the participants, of course. Almost one third of all injuries occurred in childhood are sport-related injury, and by far the most common are sprains and strains. When we look at empirical data on what causes injury in sports and in recreational activity, This is one of the funniest sports out of all and it also shows you the American mindset because of how fake it is.
11:39 It's essentially rugby with protective gear and that's because they don't want to hurt themselves, which is of course fine, but they act as if it's actually a real sport when it's just a stolen sport. except that the Americans are so afraid of it that they put all of this protective gear on and they celebrate it as if it's a real sport. It's just hilarious.
[video] 12:03 And these unique positions that you're not prepared for and you're not in control of are where we run into a lot of injury risk factors. Of course, in strength sports and in strongman, we see biceps rupture or quads rupture. And this is really only happening at the very high levels when people are pushing themselves to the extreme. But on average, people get hurt less in strongman than in virtually any other sport that you can imagine.
12:21 Yes, or you could also not do any of that and don't injure yourself at all.
[video] 12:26 The sport strikes a really good balance between strength and cultivating functional movements. Put the community on top of this and we're tackling mental health and physical health. And that's my conclusion.
12:39 What mental health for physical health? I didn't see you give any actual explanations in this video and the video is about to end already. What a joke. And why does he put the laptop next to his genitals always? Does he not get what he's doing? Or maybe, oh, okay. His genitals are probably not visible anymore because of the drugs. Nevermind.
[video] 13:00 Taking physical health, we're taking mental health and we're participating in strongman.
13:07 How? What are you doing with your physical health? You didn't say anything. What did you say about your mental health? Simply that you do something and that helps you to focus on that specific addiction. That's what helps your mental health. Do you not understand? It makes no sense.
[video] 13:24 Level that's not taking you beyond what your body might be naturally capable of. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
13:32 This guy is... What the... You f***ing idiot. How could he possibly say that? You literally look like the most unnatural blob of death on Earth. You don't need to work out and lift man-made metal like a slave for no reason just to reduce your lifespan. to reach this level of strength because you would never do any of that in nature anyway. That's not what strength is. You're either naturally strong or you're not. It depends on your height and your bones. It doesn't depend on your muscles. You simply pump up your muscles to adapt to lifting man-made metal for no reason and you need to do it over and over again, every week, multiple times
14:17 to keep up this so-called pump because once you stop you go back to your natural state which is where your body wants to be at so for you to say that you don't need to do that is so ridiculous it's not even ridiculous it's beyond delusional it's like a severe mental illness do you even live in this reality well
[video] 14:39 what's healthier if you think there's a healthier sport go ahead and pop it in the comments i would love to know i run group coaching it's as little as 35 a week where you're popped into a community a private okay what kind of people get coached by him uh the guy on the left you'll also get all of your videos reviewed and we tie that all in to one package all to try to make sure that you can be the healthiest strongest most functional version of your
15:09 Healthiest and strongest, if you have to train for it, doesn't go together because that means that you need to reduce your lifespan and most likely destroy your joints and whatnot to reach this level.
[video] 15:20 We've got two options. One is Body Kickstart, which is designed more for lower level recreational type people who want to be as healthy as possible.
15:28 I hear some people say that being a strongman or a bodybuilder is not healthy. And it's as if these people who promote it realize it. But as you can see, they don't realize it. They actually believe that it is healthy and that sports in general are healthy. Who's healthier, a hundred-plus-year-old guy who's walking around, has no injuries, is not sick in any way, or a guy who's been under the ground rotting for 50 years already? Who's healthier, somebody who's dead or somebody who's alive?
16:02 It's just completely delusional. If you reduce your lifespan by doing something, then you're doing something unhealthy. And everything that's stressful is unhealthy. Stop stressing your body. Thanks for watching.
