0:00 Alright, what's up guys? As requested, I'm going to review a video called I only ate meat and fruit for an entire week by the channel Pygmy. It's interesting to me because that's all that I basically eat, meat and fruit.

[video] 0:12 No rice, no bread, no vegetables, just meat and fruit.

0:20 How would my body respond to this drastic change?

[video] 0:26 And could this actually be the optimal way to eat for maximizing health and performance? Will I dive in and try this unique animal-based diet? The results might surprise you, but you gotta focus. So the last meal I had before this was yesterday. It was white rice cod o-

0:46 White rice, cod, okay, but the white rice only has carbs. Completely pointless, at best. Avocado, a green salad. Avocados have essentially nothing, just some monounsaturated oils and vitamin E, also pointless. And a salad is always unhealthy. If you make it with man-made plants full of toxins, which don't even exist in nature, then what can you expect? It will always cause gut discomfort, indigestion, bloating.

[video] 1:14 olive oil i thought it was healthy it felt healthy i felt good today i actually just got done with a workout it felt really good i felt energized however according to most carnivore advocates the meal i had last night wasn't healthy bringing us here today in true carnivore fashion standing here before my food without my shirt i have just made about two-thirds a pound of a grass-fed ribeye steak fried in two tablespoons of butter no seasoning i have if you cook your food then it's good to cook it in butter two of these ripe mangoes diced up and then in the leftover I fried a banana. I think that's allowed, right? Let's give the banana a try first. Mmm.

[video] 1:52 It's pretty rare, as in raw inside, which is good.

2:01 It would be ideal if it was completely raw, seeing as that's how we eat meat in nature. That's how all animals do it, obviously. But I don't expect him to eat raw meat, obviously. As far as cooked food goes, he's doing a good job. Of course, the food that he's eating doesn't exist in nature. It's been cultivated. Fruits are way better and also way easier to digest.

[video] 2:20 Starch is obviously not created for the human digestive tract

[video] 2:38 actually be in a manner that would be more hydrating, higher in vital minerals, and less toxic to the body? Well, I end up trying a few variations of this meat and fruit diet throughout this experiment to try to see what's most optimal for me. That banana, so good. Steak, really good. Mango, super ripe, super good. Honestly, good experience so far, but it's only the first meal. It's not ideal to eat the organs of ruminant animals. Ideal would be of course to eat it from predators, lions and whatnot.

[video] 3:19 It's so funny that he cooks the fruit. You want to get the hydrating water, the vitamin C, which you're destroying.

[video] 3:45 That still has the outer part on, so I'm going to peel that off and then eat the inside. And then on top of the grass-fed beef, I have some raw Parmesan cheese. So Parmesan Reggiano, the real stuff here. I'm going to have about two ounces.

3:58 Okay, but that's not meat and fruit anymore. Dairy is already a whole different story. And the protein... casein, which is what cheese is mostly made out of, is not very easy to digest for humans, seeing as it's unnatural, you need to create it. It's closer to nature, obviously, than all of the plant garbage, but still, cheese doesn't occur naturally.

[video] 4:20 I'm probably gonna eat four of these patties, half the pineapple, that banana, and I'm gonna share a patty or two with my wife and some of the grilled pineapple with my wife as well. See how this goes. As you can see, this food is very wholesome. But aside from that, this nutritional approach varied quite differently from my normal diet. First of all, which should be obvious, the ratio of fat to carbs, even with the fruits, was significantly higher with this style of eating. Also, these plates of food contain way less volume than I'm used to. But surprisingly, due to the high amount of fat, which is high on the satiety index, I actually felt very satisfied at the end of this meal. I just didn't have that distending gut fullness feeling that I'm used to. Usually, I associate satisfaction with also fullness in the stomach, and that's just something I need to get used to. Being satisfied without feeling that, like, distension? Maybe that's a good thing, though, okay?

5:01 It is a good thing, that's how it's supposed to be naturally. When you eat raw meat, especially fat and organs, then you don't have a bloated, full, that kind of a stomach at all, but you feel super satisfied, like you're really nutritionally complete.

[video] 5:18 Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe I'll be able to sleep really good. I'll see you all tomorrow. So I actually ended up sleeping very good the first night. No acid reflux-like symptoms. I felt like my sleep was deep and I didn't get up too many times throughout the night. I started the day with some fruit and then I pretty much got to eating the exact same thing as I did on day one. So what are some other supporting arguments for this style of eating? Why fruit but not vegetables, grains, beans, or other plant foods? Well, advocates of this lifestyle claim that fruits want to be eaten. That is why they are sweet. And things like vegetables or leafy greens do not want to be eaten, which is why they...

5:47 Yes, exactly. The vegetables are the plants themselves. They want you to eat the fruit, although that's also kind of arguable depending on what plant it is, but they most definitely don't want you to eat the plant itself. You're supposed to spread the seeds of the plants by eating the fruits and excreting them somewhere else. It's as if they are multiplying, but when you eat the plants themselves, then they just die straight up, so there's no point for the plant to be eaten at all. It doesn't want to, naturally. It should also be mentioned that not all fruits are sweet, and as I said, the ones that have been cultivated nowadays are over-the-top sweet, and a lot of fruits in nature are very bitter and also very sour, to the point where they are inedible.

[video] 6:30 They're bitter. But also, looking at the science, these plant foods, other than most fruits, seem to be higher in what advocates of this lifestyle would consider anti-nutrients or plant defense chemicals. The claim is that these defense chemicals are actually harmful to the human body and should be minimized by avoiding bitter greens, grains, beans, legumes, and roots. Fruits, on the other hand, are plant foods that contain the least amount of these compounds. And they're also hydrating and contain various vitamins, like vitamin C, and then meats and...

6:55 There's not really various vitamins. It is vitamin C and trace amounts of plant versions of the B vitamins, but really it's just vitamin C that you can get out of plants in general, not only fruits.

[video] 7:09 Organ meats are super nutrient dense, contain a lot of protein, minerals, and fat soluble vitamins. So the idea is to get the most bioavailable nutrient-rich foods without the supposed toxins. Now the debate on this goes deep, I mean real deep, with tons of conflicting arguments, studies, etc. And rather than me taking a side, I thought I would just try this one out for myself and report to you my opinion on how I feel. So after the second day of eating this meat and fruit-based diet, how was my performance? I was going to do plyometrics today, that's like jumping and stuff, but I just didn't feel it. I just didn't feel it, so I decided to do just a voluminous pushing workout, so like chest and triceps, and just kind of freestyled it, honestly. I got to say, though, my body weight feels lighter. I was able to just crank out the dips, but I'm not feeling super amped up. In the middle, we're feeling pretty good. How do I look? You look so much more ripped than I've seen you looking since last summer, honestly.

[video] 8:01 So although my body weight was feeling lighter, I was feeling a bit more sluggish. Curious as to why I was feeling this way, after tracking and logging my macros, I had a pretty good idea of possibly why and a potential easy solution. Regarding energy levels over these past

8:13 You can't really track your macros accurately when you eat cooked meat, because as you could see, the ground meat was grayish-brown, not red as it's naturally supposed to be, which means that it has been denatured. The nutrients that were in the meat are partly gone, which includes the macronutrients. Therefore, if you believe that the food that you ate, for example, had a thousand calories, then in reality now it had seven or eight hundred.

[video] 8:38 I do have to say, I feel like my performance has not been as good as it could be. And I think it's because I went from eating so many carbs upwards to 400 grams a day down to under 200 grams of carbs for these last couple of days. And I really think that may not be enough for me to perform optimally, at least at this point in time. So today what I am doing is I am upping the fruit. I started with three bananas right here. And I do have to say, I actually do feel quite energized at the moment in time. How much fruit am I going to need to get to feel good?

9:04 His body was also very used to carbs. Once you're used to eating less carbs, it's all fine. But of course he would feel sluggish if you switch just like that.

[video] 9:14 That combination of smells is so weird.

[video] 9:22 All right, energy is definitely up. Got that workout I wanted to do yesterday done. Did it with pretty darn good intensity. I'd give that about an eight, nine out of 10. Went to the store, then we actually played some pickleball. I didn't even film that.

9:31 This guy eats too many bananas. You can eat bananas if you want, although they are not natural. The natural ones actually have seeds inside of them, but whatever. I'm just saying this because it would probably cause bloating. It would cause bloating for me if I would eat so many bananas. Still in play. That's the way I see it.

[video] 9:46 But yeah, that and then I also had some spillover energy that I'm just using for a trampoline session right now just to have a little bit of fun and I still feel like I have a solid amount of energy. Only thing is I am feeling a wee bit more bloated. I don't know if you can see anything. But yeah, things could change at any moment.

9:58 Just gonna jump a little bit. It's definitely 100% the bananas. Come on, this should be common sense. Longer and then take a shower, have my next meal.

[video] 10:07 So the adjustment was simple. I felt like I needed more carbs, so double the fruit, double the carbs. However, because fruit comes in a

10:14 He should be eating watery fruit. Even mangoes are too fibrous. Package with fiber and water?

[video] 10:20 I was a bit concerned that this might cause too much bloating, especially when mixed with meat. So in an effort to make some of the fruit more digestible, I thought I would continue frying it up.

10:30 Now fried bananas were good, but fried strawberry? Combining meat with fruit has never been a problem for me, but combining it with such fibrous fruit would be a problem for anybody anyway.

[video] 10:46 and keep my total calories throughout this entire experiment around 3,000 fruit and meat now on day five doing various this is more like a banana meat diet

[video] 11:06 It was way more expensive. But that was probably due to the grass-fed steaks. I could have had it more comparable if I would have chosen mostly the ground meats.

11:15 Steaks are overpriced. They don't contain anything special anyway.

[video] 11:20 I used to think dairy caused me a problem, but after experimenting with these raw cheeses such as parmesan and raw cheddar, I noticed it felt good and dairy also added calcium and some other beneficial properties. I considered it in the meat category and it really felt like it rounded these meals out. Now how did this diet end up affecting my overall aesthetics? And what were my final thoughts? Well ladies and gentlemen, it turned out to be way different than I assumed from the beginning of this experiment. And with that being said, it is time for the results.

11:43 Are you guys gonna take me serious with the backwards hat? Anyway- Alright, so he didn't eat a meat and fruit diet, he ate a meat, fruit, and dairy diet.

[video] 11:50 So at first glance, it actually doesn't look like there's much of a difference, but when I look in closer, especially at the waistline, my waist seems tighter in the afters, which is actually surprising to me because of all of that bloating I complained about in the middle of this experiment. However, I do have to say towards the end of this experiment and today, I feel like I have dialed the macros in.

12:09 Less darkness around the eyes. It's possible within a week, I don't know, but what he ate is a lot closer to what we eat in nature than what most people eat nowadays. That's what I've been eating for over seven years and I don't have any dark eye circles. It's not normal to have them. Of course, they are caused by stress, but even a bad diet can be stressful on the body and for sure deficiencies are not going to help. If you would be eating this, especially if you cooked the steaks rare, as he did, or at least medium rare, somewhat raw inside, then you would be getting plenty of nutrients to the point where, like I said, you would be eating pretty close to how humans ate in nature's clothes. to the point as we can get nowadays. It's obviously hard. Even the meat that we eat nowadays is such garbage. The cows, the chickens, it's nothing close to how wild meat is supposed to be.

[video] 13:04 And to where I felt like the bloating is not really there at all. So does that mean that this diet actually digests really well in my body and works really well for me? Maybe now regarding overall health and longevity as it relates to this style of eating I thought the answer was going to be relatively simple, but after diving into the research and various conflicting too much fat I don't feel like he ate that much fat.

13:32 Okay the butter But there's nothing wrong with fat. Your cells are made out of cholesterol and saturated animal fat. That's literally what you're made out of. How can you eat too much fat? It wouldn't even make any sense. You can eat too many plant oils. You shouldn't be eating any plant oils to begin with. Most certainly no seed oils. They're super inflammatory to the body. They're inflammatory because of how toxic they are. The inflammation is just the response of the body to deal with the toxins. LDL... No problem. What's the problem with LDL? Have you ever seen any actual proof? You will read about it on Dr. Michael Greger's site, but there's no proof that it's in any way bad for you. For example, vitamin D is created by LDL going to your skin and producing vitamin D, which is a hormone. Testosterone is also made out of cholesterol. Testosterone is 95% cholesterol. Estrogen is also made of cholesterol and so on. It's incredibly important for us. Too much fructose?

14:27 Maybe he ate a little bit too much fructose, actually, because, again, wild fruit wouldn't be like this. Fiber... You ate a lot of fiber. I don't know what he means by that. Antinutrients can be good? No, definitely not. Come on, just stop it. What? Yeah.

[video] 14:43 arguments etc etc the rabbit holes are so many and they're so deep that at this moment i can't form a solid opinion especially based on my experience which has only been one week so none of this is health advice none of this is neutral it would have been a lot better and clearer to him if he would have ate some organs from healthy animals then he would have felt so good

15:07 that he would have understood that this is actually the way we are supposed to eat. When you eat some cooked meat with unnatural fruit, you will feel better than eating a salad with rice or whatever garbage he was eating at the beginning, but it's just not ideal.

[video] 15:23 Traditional advice, it's all just my experience and how I felt this week and what I'm planning to do for myself going forward. So what am I going to do going forward? I am going to continue this style of eating with modifications. So yes, I am actually going to continue this style of eating because I noticed for myself throughout this past week, when I dialed it in, I had exceptional energy. I felt like I had great performance and mental clarity, and I want to take advantage of that. Now for modifications, I want to add back in white rice, sweet potato, some vegetables, and just see how I feel, react, and then make adjustments there on out. So it's not like I'm planning to be super strict. What I'm actually saying is I'm switching my previous base that was rice, meat, and some vegetables

[video] 15:59 to now fruit meat and some vegetables and then a little bit of rice a little bit of potato or whatever i wonder what his explanation would be as to why he wants to eat vegetables whatever i want in there but the base is different at least that's where i'm at right now my opinion might change later based on how i feel after messing around i'm thinking going forward i might want to experiment with more of a primal style diet you know that includes these potatoes and vegetables and other things like that and see how that goes

16:24 Alright, the most interesting part was that his dark eye circles supposedly got a bit lighter. I think that it's possible that it actually happened even within a week. As I said, I've been eating this way for over seven years now, with the exception that I eat everything raw. I have also had some dairy over the years now and then. It's been many months now since I've had any. Milk, cheese, cream. If there was something interesting to try, such as camel milk, then I would drink it, but it's not something that I'm generally into, seeing as milk products were used by mostly northern Europeans, for example, or generally people who lived in colder climates, they farmed these animals and made these dairy products because they didn't have enough food in winter sometimes.

17:11 It's a sort of good way to survive in harsh climates, but in a warmer climate it's not really something that you would at least have to rely on and not really something that you would actually aim to eat. You would of course always aim for the animals which live on the land or you would fish and then you would eat some fruit if you would find it maybe some honey very rarely that's about it that's what we eat naturally and that's why we feel the best if we eat this way and i can only recommend it thanks for watching
