Cancer always starts off with your own cells, and normally your cells are under control. Specifically, the growing speed of these cells. You have two general types of genes that, when mutated, can turn any regular cell into a tumor cell. That is, proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressors. Proto-oncogenes are the ones that promote cell growth and cell division. Why do we talk about tumor cells? Totally not the point. He may be so stupid that he doesn't realize

For example, during DNA replication, polymerases could accidentally add on the wrong nucleotide, and that is a mutation. A nucleotide could also be added or missed, which could cause an entire frameshift on codon reading during translation. How about some external factors, like the sun? UV radiation causes a specific type of dimerizing mutation where double cysteines neighboring each other can covalently bond. Or what about oxidative mutations caused by free radicals? Like I mentioned in the original video, so many things are carcinogenic and you can't ever avoid mutations. They happen, and they happen randomly at random locations. Now, your cells have mechanisms to minimize mutation rates such as proofreading enzymes that lower mutation rates after DNA replication, because mutations aren't wanted or needed by the body. If what you say is true, that mutations are purposely done by the cells, why are there mechanisms in place to prevent mutations? Our bodies aren't even close to being perfect. The body does it by itself, technically the point when you're exposed to sunlight. How is that relevant?

This receptor then triggers a downstream apoptotic pathway involving many other proteins, such as caspases, which ultimately causes the target cell to self-destruct. Cytotoxic T-cells also release perforin and granzyme B, which also causes apoptosis. These are pathways which seem very scary in the diagram, but is actually relatively easy to understand. Anything being activated here are generally tumor suppressors. You have no proof whatsoever. Wow.

And overall, you know, this depends on what type of treatment you receive. Most of the time is not a pretty process. Your chances of survival could be low if you have very advanced cancer, or if you yourself are very old. At the end of the day, it's a trade-off. Do you want to make some sacrifices to treat your cancer? And dying on the surgery table is part of the risk. But of course, you shouldn't be jumping into these risks unless you understand what the doctor tells you. The ultimate goal of these treatments is to eliminate cancer. You make it seem as if these treatments have a primary purpose of just killing you, which simply isn't the case. Right. That's exactly the purpose.

Sure, the, quote, unnatural substances such as pesticides can indeed be very harmful and increase the risk of cancer, but the natural parts of tobacco aren't great either. Nicotine, for example, is found naturally in tobacco plants, and it is the primary reason why smoking is addictive. It binds to many acetylcholine receptors in the parasympathetic nervous system, but more importantly, it can promote the growth of cancer by exhibiting angiogenic properties, activating growth factors, inhibiting apoptosis, etc. Other carcinogens found in tobacco include formaldehyde, chromium, acetaldehyde, benzene, arsenic, and so forth.
