0:00 Hi guys, I'm going to be reviewing Paul Celadino's video called A Day in My Life for Longevity Live to 120+.
[video] 0:22 Welcome to a day in my life for longevity. I want to show you guys everything I do in a day to maximize healthspan and lifespan. I think that healthspan is lifespan. So I don't necessarily think about living a long time.
[video] 0:35 live healthfully today, I want to be as energetic and vital as I can.
0:40 Right, exactly. A healthy life equals a long life, obviously, because everything that's healthy for you will prolong your lifespan and everything that's unhealthy will reduce your lifespan. Common sense. And what he was showing just now reduces your lifespan, but we will talk about it.
[video] 1:01 That equates to longevity. So let's get started with the day. I'm gonna take you through everything I do in a day. It's early in Costa Rica. It's just after 6 a.m. It's time to go outside and get some sunlight in my eyes. So let's open the blinds and let the light in.
[video] 1:30 in the morning i just like there is no need to stretch on purpose it should be something that you do intuitively to do a little movement i'm gonna go get a surf so i wanna warm up the shoulders warm up the hips open everything up i do that kind of stuff throughout the day also so one of the things that i think about in terms of longevity and health is never sitting for too long throughout the day.
1:55 This is his problem. He thinks too much about it instead of living intuitively. He wakes up and then he thinks about what he will be doing now to increase his lifespan. It doesn't make any sense. When you live intuitively, then you already know what's healthy for you and there is nothing to figure out. But when you live like this, then you think about what you should be doing. Now I should stretch, then I should surf, and so on.
[video] 2:27 He already said this in the airport video. Obviously, there's zero proof for it. This might as well be an excerpt from the Bible.
2:58 He only sits down for one and a half hours maximum. Humans in nature sit down or lay down for hours.
[video] 3:08 And we see markers of inflammation start to rise after three hours of being sedentary. So think about that the next time you're on like a six hour... And when you exercise...
3:19 How long does it take for the inflammation to rise? Oh, a few seconds, minutes. Okay, great. Then by your logic, we shouldn't exercise. Okay, then we agree on something. Also, by the way, as I was saying in the video about the airport gyms, clearly... It's impossible to actually prove this when it comes to healthy human beings. And the markers are very vague. It's nothing scientific. It's all indirect. And for the most part, you are checking chemical reactions. That's it. And if it is the case, let's just assume that it is so, then who are you testing? People who eat junk food? Overweight people?
[video] 4:13 that if I can push through the original distraction, the original resistance to getting the work done or starting the work, like, then I'll get into a flow state. I'll get super focused with writing and I can write for about 90 minutes. I get these like 90 minutes of productive focused work. And then I just feel something in my brain shut off. My brain is like, nope, you need a break. Rather than sitting at my desk and watching YouTube or watching something on my computer, I'm going to get up. I'm going to come outside. I'm fortunate to live in a place like Costa Rica where I have warmth year round. I'm going to let my eyes see a far away view.
4:42 Yes, that is good. People who live in such climates usually live longer. But of course, you can argue about it, because people in cold climates also live long. But typically, nowadays at least, that is the case. Nice blue sky, sort of.
[video] 5:04 which is good for my parasympathetic nervous system. This is calming to be able to see far away and I'm going to move around a little bit and then give myself 10 or 15 minutes and I can usually get back into work. So after I do my stretches, first meal of the day, breakfast, I don't have wifi on at night. So there's a lot of debate about whether radio frequency EMF is harmful for humans, but there are some studies suggesting that it could potentially disrupt your sleep. So at night I have a switch here. And I can just turn that switch off and on. So in the morning, I'll turn it on if I want to use Wi-Fi for work. I also have Ethernet throughout the house, so I can plug directly into the Ethernet. But in the morning, sometimes I'll turn the Wi-Fi on and use it on my phone, or it's more convenient to be moving around the house if I need Wi-Fi. I try to minimize my exposure to it. And definitely at night, I just flip the switch and turn it off. I'm going to go surf right now. Depending on the waves, it could be two hours. So I want energy for that. I want carbohydrates. I want protein.
5:44 Two hours of surfing is a lot. I've never done it myself, but people say that it's pretty stressful. Whatever the case, all the sea water cannot be good for you, obviously. It dries you out, and we can see the consequences of that.
[video] 6:03 you know with fat but i don't want anything that's going to take too long to digest so smoothie works really well for me it's the current paul saladino fridge we got some uh beef bacon down here some grass-fed beef that's wagyu cantaloupe eggs asparagus grass-fed butter this is my favorite whey protein that's going to go in the smoothie
6:22 That's strange. He sells a lot of stuff like this. When they create whey protein, they use hydrochloric acid, for example, ammonia also. And that's why they add all of the artificial flavorings to the powder. You're not supposed to taste the chemicals which were used for the procedure of creating the powder, and that's how it is with pretty much all of the supplements nowadays. I have very detailed videos about supplements on my channel, if you're curious about it. I go over a lot of them.
[video] 7:07 Salt analysis that we did with the Animal-Based Nutrition Research Foundation, that's a non-profit that I started. I was pretty surprised to see that a lot of salts contain significant levels of heavy metals. I mean, I'm using
7:18 That's bad, but you're consuming a toxic rock. As I've said before, 2 grams for a baby can already be lethal. 30 grams for an adult. It depends on your body mass. Point being, it has an LD50 value. Only toxic substances have an LD50 value, in case you don't know what that is. No healthy substance has one, obviously.
[video] 7:46 7 to 10 grams a day of salt. at those amounts of salt the heavy metals actually accumulate pretty significantly if your salt is full of heavy metals some of the worst salts were celtic sea salt and redmond had a lot of heavy metals too this is a diamond kosher salt which tested free of any heavy metals if you want to live a long time i've heard that before the kosher salt is clean very nice time you don't want toxins in your body you don't want to be consuming heavy metals yes but salt is a toxic substance I'm minimizing my exposure to BPA, BPS, microplastics, and nanoplastics, which are small plastic particles. I'm minimizing my exposure to PFAs, forever chemicals, which are in plastics and kind of ride on the microplastic particles. So look, the blueberries are in plastic, yes. It can't be perfect, but my milk is in glass, and the salt is in glass, and I store my meat in glass as much as I can. One of the things that I really am proud of with Harden Soil, that Harden Soil is doing, is all their products are in paper. It's interesting that he consumes some of these products himself.
[video] 8:43 Maybe it's only for the video, but if he actually does then it's because he doesn't understand what kind of toxic chemicals they use when they create these powders.
[video] 9:07 which are plastics less than one micrometer in size than we've been led to believe. And so I'm doing everything I can, within reason, it's impossible, to minimize my exposure to plastics. You can see it's all paper. Even the scoop is paper. You can see here on the side the levels of immune proteins per serving, IgA, IgM, IgG, beta-lactoglobulin, lactoferrin, bovine serum, albumin, lactoperoxidase. This crushes any other whey protein that they tested. So this is definitely the cleanest whey protein that we could find. Hardened soil, it's cold processed to preserve as many of those bioactives as possible. There's great data with whey protein actually increasing glutathione levels. Glutathione is the master antioxidant in your body. So I love getting whey protein in my diet now. It's actually a great quickly digestible.
9:43 Again, you could only do an indirect vague measurement and then you would be interpreting the results. You would simply be imagining that you measured glutathione. But if you want to believe that, how is that a good sign? That's probably then because of the toxic chemicals which are used when you create the powder.
[video] 10:06 The protein before I go surf and I was writing my book yesterday and I came across some interesting studies showing that in your ilium, which is the end of your intestines, your small intestine, there are cells called L cells. And those L cells are where GLP-1 is produced.
10:21 No, no, no, you're wrong, Paul. Sorry that I have to say this again, but I also read about it, and it's actually called the H cells, not the L cells. How can you mix that up? And inside of those H cells, there's HBO238, I believe. Yes, it's a gene. You can read about it a bit more, then you will find out the truth, okay?
[video] 10:51 GLP-1 is glucagon like peptide one. You may have heard of Ozempic, Wegovi, Manjaro, all these injectables people are using now, which are GLP-1 agonists. So if you want to lose weight, if you want to be less healthy, I would not inject Wegovi or Ozempic, which have horrible side effects and can cause long-term problems with weight regain. When you stop the medications, I would actually get your body to produce GLP-1 normally to give you normal satiety. That's how you want to live a long time. And that you accomplish by having nutrients in your diet. So nutrient-rich foods arriving to the L cells of the ileum of your gut are what trigger the release of GLP-1. Whey protein has one of the strongest signals of those cells. So when you eat whey protein, it's one of the strongest releases of GLP-1.
11:25 Just to be clear, there is absolutely no proof that there is any kind of so-called peptides in your body. They have never been observed.
[video] 11:34 White protein is very satiating per calorie and per protein. I'm not really looking for that, but it's an added bonus. If you want to live a long time, you want to be metabolically healthy. And in order to be metabolically healthy, you have to think about the quality of your food and your healthy weight. So white protein is a great thing to have in your diet. You don't have to buy the hard and soil one. I think it's the best one on the market. And I think that if you're going to get a white protein, look for something that's rigorously tested, cold processed, preferably not packaged in plastic. That's that. Look at that.
12:00 And he never mentions all of the toxic chemicals which are used when they create these powders. That tells you two things. Either he's ignorant or he doesn't want you to know about it.
[video] 12:15 Delicious. There's gonna be probably three glasses this size in this container. I'm gonna drink all of it. So I'm gonna go get a surf, but it'll digest quickly and it doesn't bother me when I'm surfing. I do not do intermittent fasting. I get up in the morning, I want to eat something first thing in the morning that gives your body the signal to calm that cortisol in the morning And I think this is more nutrients.
12:32 I am really not super excited about fasting I think it creates excess stress on the human body the humans don't at last something good and I had reviewed a video of his where he talked about fasting Fasting just means starving. It's the same thing. Obviously Just a different word for it because you do it voluntarily but as far as the damage and stress goes it's the same for your body obviously because you're starving starving just means that you are voluntarily or involuntarily not getting any food inside of you and then you will feel bad and that's how you will age and become unhealthy necessarily need i think there are better ways to lose weight simply by improving the quality of your overall foods i'm not trying to cause excess stress Starving, fasting just means that you're a loser. That's the best way to put it.
13:28 It doesn't matter whether you're brainwashed to fast or you are forced to in nature because you're a bad hunter. Whatever the case, when you're fasting, you are imitating a loser, a bad hunter, or you were brainwashed to fast. It really doesn't matter which one it is.
[video] 13:52 If you want to live a long time, you want to keep cortisol low as much as you can. You want that morning cortisol to help you wake up, but you want to keep cortisol low throughout the day. Fasting spikes your cortisol. There's actually a lab ratio people don't know about that predicts longevity.
14:06 What is up with him? It's so strange. He talks about stress all the time, but then at the same time promotes chronic stress, exercise, surfing, Really really bad for you Takes decades of your lifespan, but that he never talks about why? Why doesn't he talk about it because he talks about stress so much if he didn't talk about stress Then I could understand he just doesn't care about the topic. Okay, whatever, but he talks about it all the time
[video] 14:41 in humans so it's dheas to cortisol per link in the description but you want your dheas which is an androgen to be as high as possible so you want your sex hormones for both men and women to be high that signals fertility and virility and vitality you want your cortisol to be as low as possible cortisol is generally a stress hormone so a good way to spike your cortisol is to not eat enough calories and to fast in the morning or fast in the afternoon or just fast in general so caloric restriction will absolutely spike your cortisol i'm not about that i'm trying to keep cortisol low and support my sex hormones the other things realize that for men and women sex hormones testosterone these are important for vitality fertility virility and you have to eat enough calories you have enough nutrients for those hormones There are certain people in the health space now who are doing calorie restricted, time restricted, vegan diets, claiming that they have robust sex hormones like testosterone. I just don't believe it. That's not how the human body works. When you restrict calories, when you restrict the time in which you eat those calories, and when you don't give your body animal foods, you're going to tank your testosterone. You're going to tank your sex hormones. And that's really important for fertility and longevity. So you want a high DHS, you want a low cortisol. Cheers. All right. So heading to surf. Got the dog in the back. He lives the best life ever as a dog now.
15:35 He gets to go run around on the- I cannot agree with that because he should be with other dogs, and you should be with other people, meaning your family. Instead, he has you and you have him, so to speak. But it's wrong for both of you. ...beach, and I get to go in the ocean.
[video] 15:58 So, one of the weird things about me is that I don't listen to music. I don't know if it's like a dopamine thing, trying not to flood dopamine or I don't know what it is. I just, I like just having space for my brain to kind of wander when I'm on the way to surf.
16:18 Music does occupy your mind. Most people in their everyday life are occupied with something. You wake up, you think about going to school or to work, then you work or study, The whole day you get back, you go to the gym, you listen to music, play video games, watch some TV shows, and then you go to bed and repeat that. You're never actually really at peace.
[video] 16:53 We have arrived. Zach gets to go on living the best life ever as a dog. I get to live a pretty good life as a human too, so... Summertime, Dominical waves, it's basically flat, but we're still gonna get in the ocean because morning sunlight, grounding, time in nature, these things are hugely important for humans. I just realized that I feel so much better. Even if I just go out and catch two waves and they're ankle, knee high, I will feel better today because I got in the ocean. We know very clearly that being in the sun is associated with longevity. So you wanna live a long time, do not fear the sun.
17:27 So this is- Okay, that I really like to hear.
[video] 17:30 is a sunscreen that I made. We can call it an animal-based sunscreen. It has tallow, coconut oil, beeswax, and zinc. That's it. So non-nano zinc. And it goes on my face, and it makes me look like I have a white face. I did a video on YouTube about how to make this sunscreen. I don't want a sunscreen that has compounds like avobenzone or oxybenzone or homosalate or any of that stuff because that can get absorbed into the skin, excrete in the poop and the pee, and we know that it's potentially associated with cancers and stuff. So you don't want normal sunscreens. And get this, as I point to you with my sunscreen finger. If you look at the data, sunscreen actually doesn't prevent skin cancer. I know, I'll put a study on the screen here. There's no solid data that sunscreen prevents skin cancer. Might it improve photo aging and sun damage? Yes. That's why I'm using it. I'm 48 years old. I don't need to look any older than I already do. I served for a couple years in Costa Rica. I didn't use sunscreen enough. The sun damage won't make you look older, the wrinkles will make you look older. The sun won't do that. Maybe if you would overdo it, and you would be in the sun for many hours every day. Who knows?
18:36 That would have to be tested, but who wants to make this kind of a test? The spots will make you look worse, just not older. What's really aging him is the seawater, because it dries out the skin and all the stress. That's really what ages you, stress in the first place.
[video] 18:59 I'm obviously against seed oils, but none of this can be proven. Nothing that he just said. That's the problem. He relies too much on papers.
19:27 instead of his intuition.
[video] 19:31 Answer, especially squamous and basal cell, and your dermis and epidermis. Western medicine hasn't figured this out yet, but they will. So anyway, time to get a white face. How do I look? These are some serious photons, guys.
19:55 It's a surrogate activity. You're just imitating what you really want to do. And that's obvious. That's how it is with all sports. He said that this is a good life and I don't disagree that it's a good life compared to other people who live in this system, people who are enslaved. Absolutely. When it comes to a natural life, this is nothing, it's not even comparable to a natural life. You should be doing something completely else. And you would be with your family, tons of people all the time, not surfing alone at the beach.
20:50 In this video he will meet with friends, but in the previous ones there was pretty much nobody. He said that he meets with friends sometimes and that's cool, but again with the so-called friends You're not actually really doing what you want to do. You simply imitate a family. You do the same with pets or with any people that you meet at work, at school. It's all about imitating what you really want. Again, it's a surrogate activity.
[video] 21:24 Friends, beautiful morning here in Costa Rica in the dry season. Gonna go hang out in a cafe here. No breakfast here for me right now. I'm gonna go home and get some breakfast in a second, but I want to say hi to my friends and catch up, so I got the dog. We're gonna go in the cafe. Come on.
21:42 some women without children i assume maybe i'm wrong and they like the dog ah this modern society no matter where you go at this point even in costa rica it's super messed up
[video] 22:02 Okay, back home. Got to hang out with some friends post-surf. That was probably the best part of the morning. The waves were not great. Gonna have some late breakfast.
22:10 It would be the best part anyway, even if the waves would be great because it's not stressful. You actually enjoy it and what you enjoy increases your lifespan.
[video] 22:21 Second breakfast or early lunch, we'll see. A cantaloupe, steak on the grill. I've been experimenting with some potatoes, which is new for me.
22:31 really hard to digest, inedible in the raw state.
[video] 22:36 Gotta love a good knife, guys. Gotta love a good knife.
22:53 He did a little workout and what you do when you workout is that you try to adapt your body to the stress. You have a natural physique. The better food you ate as a child, the better your physique will be bone-wise. And then when you do dips, pull-ups or even if you go to a gym and lift weights, you try to adapt your body to the state of lifting metal or pushing yourself up from the ground. But when you stop doing that, your body will go back to its natural state. The healthy state. And that's why you need to keep doing dips, pull-ups, push-ups, bench press, deadlifts. Because once you stop, your body goes back to the natural state, which is the healthy state. That state promotes longevity. These states all reduce your lifespan.
23:53 And I don't know how Paul doesn't understand that. It's common sense. Everybody knows this. And he still talks about stress, but at the same time does one of the most stressful things that people do nowadays.
[video] 24:09 At least two and a half, three hours before I go to sleep. It's just about five o'clock here. So this is even later than I usually do dinner. But I was filming content with my team today, doing some stuff. So I'm going to get to cooking dinner. So what's on the menu for dinner tonight? I eat a lot of the same foods, guys. So I've got a Wagyu.
24:29 flat iron steak there on lineage really you should just be eating animals and some fruits when you want something sweet maybe honey that's about it that should be the base of your so-called diet you should simply be eating intuitively you should generally be living intuitively cutting board i'm gonna do some raw milk i'm gonna do some coconuts
[video] 24:58 I'll throw in some honey.
25:00 As I've said many times before, his diet is good. That's the best thing that he promotes.
[video] 25:08 With the raw milk and I've got a pineapple over there. Nice sunset about to happen out here. If you use a metal grill brush, be aware that those little pieces of metal can get stuck. in your grill, and they can end up in your food. And there are hundreds of people hospitalized every year for getting those little pieces of metal in their intestines. They cause perforation, or they cause major pain. So we got a sunset happening here, and as you'll see in the Stay in the Light video continues, after sunset, all the lights in my house are gonna be red. It's not a swingers party, it's not anything weird, it's not a rave, it's just that I'm trying to protect my circadian rhythm. I don't want flickering blue lights in my house. But what I do want
25:49 It makes no sense. There's no proof that it affects you in any way. It doesn't affect me whatsoever. Why would you have red lights when it's supposed to be dark outside? Obviously, blue lights are also unnatural, but red lights seem even stranger because, as you can see, The red light would appear during the sunrise or the sunset for a very short period. Having red lights on at night makes zero sense.
[video] 26:31 Why do you need to get exercise?
26:42 that doesn't make any sense you need to do what you want to do do you want to be in the sun yes do you want to be in nature yes do you want to watch the sunset yes do you want to eat good food yes do you want to be with your friends yes all of this promotes longevity do you want to exert yourself be stressed Do you want to see how your veins pop everywhere on your forehead? Do you want to be inflamed, red, exhausted? No, no you don't. No animal does.
[video] 27:19 Meaningful things for people that I care about in community, and I also have to sleep well. So tonight I'm gonna watch the rest of the sunset on the beach with my friends, just a few minutes down there. I'm gonna go down to the beach, meet some friends, have a bonfire, and that's gonna be the end to my day, at least on the beach. So you guys can see red lights here, red lights up here, Red lights here in the kitchen, red lights in the living room, and the bedrooms have red lights too. So all red lights at night to protect the circadian rhythm. I don't always put it in my videos, but community is a big part of my life. I'm kind of private with like my friends and family stuff. People always ask like, oh, you've got this amazing life, but then you're just alone. I'm not really alone. I try and prioritize friends and family. So a lot of times on the weekends, I'll come and do bonfires on the beach. You can see it's like an amazing sunset right now.
28:00 I think that he simply did that for this video because people always comment that Whatever!
28:19 I don't understand what he means by family. What kind of family members? A sister or a brother?
[video] 28:26 Sunset and train the circadian rhythm, eat an early dinner, hang out with friends and crash, go to sleep. In Costa Rica, the third world country, this is common. Like, there's tons of people on the beach. You can see over there, there's people on the beach. I mean, up and down the beach, there's just people everywhere right now. It's a Saturday night, but people everywhere. This is part of the community here. I guess this happens in the States, but when I'm in Miami, there's not people on the beach like this for sunset. It's more of like...
28:47 This is all cool. It's better than what you see in cities, obviously. But at the end of the day, it's still slave behavior. None of these humans believe that they are allowed to do what they really want to do naturally. And that's why they make some fires and grill food or whatever. Maybe drink some beers or who knows what, whatever. Maybe something healthier if they are with Paul.
29:19 Don't get me wrong, it's better to live like this, but it has nothing to do with a natural, healthy life, really.
[video] 29:28 Countries get this more than we do in the States, for sure. But yeah, I got my dog, some friends, a fire, hanging out. A little fake knife fighting, you know? That's what we do.
29:39 Fake knife fighting? That's pretty much what I meant. That's funny.
29:52 It just seems like he did it for the video. It seems too fake. It's as if he's saying, hey, I do have friends, guys. Stop leaving those comments. Maybe I'm wrong. Whatever. At least they are not in a city in a bar drinking beer.
30:17 Paul promotes a better diet than most of the influencers. No doubt about it, I've said this many times. He even eats some raw liver. He also tells people to go out into the sunlight. But when it comes to stress and longevity, he is either in denial or ignorant. He looks at all of these indirect, vague and unscientific markers
30:46 He interprets what they are supposed to mean
30:51 where he reads about them online and believes what the analysts say, and then he comes to the conclusion that this and that causes inflammation in the body. If you want to believe that, that's all fine, but why do you then ignore that all of these markers skyrocket when you exercise? Why? If you actually care about your longevity, then you would look into it, it's very easy, and you would find out that people who have a long life don't exercise at all. And it's obvious why, when you simply look at your own evidence. Thanks for watching.
